:whome:

Seriously - do any of you have window seats? Actually, it's the depth measurement I need - from the front of the seat back to the window - what do you all think?

Thanks!

HOLY CARP!!!
we used to have a bay window with a seat...it was about 16 inches, i think...18 might have been nicer, but it was a small house, so that looked right in the room. I loved that...the bottom of it was such great storage (hinged lid was the seat)

Find the most comfortable chair in your home. Model the height and depth of the window seat after this chair. A finished height of 19 inches off the finished floor is ideal for most window seats. The window seat depth from front to back is also important. Make it too shallow or deep and it can be uncomfortable. The preferred depth should fall somewhere between 17 and 22 inches. If you intend to take an occasional catnap on your window seat, make it 24 inches deep.

OMGosh, Kenny - those are hilarious!

Ok - so If I make it about 20" - that should probably be big enough.

edit: I don't think it will be long enough for a catnap. I'll post some photos of the room with my drawings at some point so you can see what we're doing.
