I was going through the basement yesterday, and I came across a tool chest that was owned by my father in law. He is now 18 years dead, and I haven't looked at it in that time. Here's what the chest looks like:

Kinda beat up and musty, to be sure.

Opened up, here's what I found:

Pulled the drawers, and found this stuff:

Laid out real nice, it looks like this. This is NOT all the stuff:

So, yesterday I listed it on Craigslist for $150. Take the whole collection. I got 3 e-mails from people who are interested. At work today, I was told "$150??? Are you nuts? It's worth a LOT more than that!"

I pulled the Craigslist posting this morning, and am thinking I may be better off selling this stuff on eBay individually.

Whaddya all think?

I don't have the first notion of its value, but $150 seems very low to me.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Mmmmmmm, pie!
You can get more than 150 for the tool box itself, George.

Interesting set of tools - what line of work was he in?

Looks like machinist or tool and die maker.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

HOLY CARP!!!
definitely dole it out, Mr. Ebay King. A lot of current day tools do not hold a candle to their predecessors. Just for fun...list them and when they've sold, let us know how much more you made than you originally thought you would. And yeah...the box is priceless. My dad made wooden toolboxes and they are great for many things...someone will LOVE that for a lot of $$.

List the small stuff in small lots...2 or 3 pieces. They can justify a little more money for an extra thingummie to get the piece they really want. that will leave you with less stuff at the end of the day that no one bid on.

Nah, tools are too small.

And too sharp.
