I am the grey one
Finally broke down and saw a doctor last week. Bad ear infection in both ears. Can't hear a thing. It is as if I was underwater. Anyway, the antibiotics he gave me have almost cleared up the infection but I still can't hear anything and won't until it all drains out. Just thought I would let you know. I still plan on posting more China stuff when I can get the train whistles to stop blowing in my head.

Wife: Can't you hear the phone ringing?

Me: Are you kidding? I wish I could get it to stop.

Ouch. I have never had one like that. Sorry to hear you do, and I hope it gets better fast.

I feel for you, JB. I've had problems with ear infections for several years now, off and on. At one point the whole right side of my head swelled up so bad my head was warped. They did a CT scan, found that some gland that we're born with but is supposed to just shrink and disappear by the time we're about 5 or so hadn't, and had gotten infected and swollen. I had to undergo surgery to have it removed.

What you're suffering through is miserable. Been there, bought the T-shirt..

I used to get ear infections when i was very young, but they stopped when i reached the age of about 6.
They started up again as soon as my daughter was born, and stopped when she reached the age of 6.
I can usually tell about a day before one is coming, and i can usually get to the doctor by the time one starts.

Funny story: I was on the way home on the subway on Monday, Sept. 10th, 2001, and felt one coming on. I was all set to go to the doctor the next morning, and go in late to work. Funny thing was I felt fine the next morning, so i went in to work. Would have saved myself a 10 mile walk home if I had stayed put.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

Took me forever to get rid of it.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

JB, ear infections can be so miserable. I have trouble with my ears frequently, too.

Rest, liquids, and I hope the doc allows you to use some meds to dry it out quicker. Those can make you drowsy, but that's not a bad thing right now for you.

Get well soon.

Your scalp is not where you're supposed to get wood.
