Yes, and I live in the US which government and vestiges of racism I have very vocally criticized. I also spent a pretty huge amount of time in Italy and noted that I am very fond of the country. I also became quite accustomed to people criticizing my government and president when I lived in Germany. So, what?! Geezum criminy. Funny how PC TNCR has suddenly become.
You missed my point again. I'm not telling you that you're being offensive. I'm telling you that your arguments are sounding ridiculous. And we here at TNCR are more than free to sound as such, from time to time.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

I almost bought a BiTurbo in my younger, single years. Then I discovered that one does not buy one Maserati. One buys two. One to drive, one for the shop.

let me reiterate that i do not try to let these discussions progress to personal attacks. yes there is a level of frustration, but nothing a little grappa would not fix.

italy has its right and left wing just as any country does, but i have always found the atmosphere very calm. its ethnocentricity is not one of exclusion but rather of love of identity and enjoyment of life. as my wife often tells, she is happy to civilize her barbarian jersey city born husband!

then again...they do think that barolo and brunello di montalcino are much better then french wines...and that may be the cause of the confusion.
And there is some truth in that. A great, hoary barolo is an incredible bottle of wine.

My Jewish former law claims she sensed anti-semtism (I think that was largely based on graffiti) the couple times she was in Italy.
All of the anti-semitic graffiti I have seen in Italy has been in the student districts of Bologna mouthing typical anti-Israel garbage of the sort too common in Europe. The sort of the stuff that in England gets printed in The Guardian.

So, are we resorting to personal attacks now, Bach?

Refuting your viewpoint with evidence is not a personal attack.

Noooo, there is no real anti-semitism in today's Europe.....

kathyk

... the graphic anti-semitism one sees in today's Europe is primarily perpetrated by young, white, uneducated thugs who are more into the act of taboo-breaking than making a pointed socio-political statement
