Saw it just today with my old man, who is 6 months older than Clint, and a Korean era vet.

I thought it was great. I second the recommendation.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

seriously? the previews looked absolutely ridiculous. David said he wanted to see it and I told him I didn't want to. I really am surprised...I saw the previews twice, at Benjamin Button and at Valkyrie, and both times it looked like a total train wreck to me

I'd be interested if you found it a train wreck. It seems to be a very tightly written movie, with very powerful themes, acting and character arcs.

There are a few supporting actors and scenes that seems very wooden (the banter in the barbershop and in the construction trailer) but those are the only obvious flaws to me.

If this is Eastwood's last movie, it is a fitting swan song to an amazing career.

well...I tell you what...I've reconsidered. Too many opinions I respect here! I'll repent and ask David to take me instead of Amy :-)

I thought the preview was tight. This is definitely on my "to see" list. Dirty Harry is back!

His movies are always compelling viewing. Mystic River was an incredible piece of filmmaking.

I've heard nothing but good things about this...I definitely want to see it since I was a big fan of Million Dollar Baby and other recent Eastwood flicks. He is on such an incredible streak of quality films.

I saw "Seven Pounds" last night...pretty good actually, a but dull and a bit of a downer, but still a good movie, at least I think so.

Finally...Benjamin Button and Dark Knight are the two "must see" films this year, IMO.

I've got it inked into my planner. Who knows, Maybe 89th and I will agree for once!
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I would say Slumdog and Dark Knight over BB. :sword:

Yeah, BB was well-done, but I think a little too cliche, a little too much of a rehash of previous "interesting characters you meet along your life journey" movies, to be the best of the year.

After reading the short story, I was thinking it would be interesting to see a movie that followed the original story more (more comedy, less drama/romance). I could see the Coen brothers having a lot of fun with this.
