This is powerful stuff, Peggy. I think it's important for you to share this. Much can be learned on so many levels, from law enforcement training to the 911 call center, etc.

It must be so hard to put all this into words. You are doing a good job with it.

Your recounting of that day is really clear.

Hard to believe it's been almost a year already. Nathan really has accomplished and grown so much in such a short time.

You're welcome, ballyhoo. I'm not sure what proper blog etiquette is. I hate to tout the blog if people aren't interested. I imagine it's not going to be a very upbeat blog in the beginning. There will be a lot of anger, and a lot of sadness starting out. But I'm hoping that it will eventually grow into something positive and may even have some positive stories mixed in with some of the anger and sadness.

I'm not quite sure where I'm going with it. But I believe the story needs to be told. I think the minor details (for example Mark having to go to Wal-Mart at midnight to buy baby formula for Adam) can be interesting. I can't imagine what poor urban families go through when tragedy strikes so unexpectantly.

Or us finding out the news while I was driving. Seriously, watching Nathan's life shatter right in front of me, while I was driving was simply surreal.

So they'll be more. This story is so bizarre if someone were to write it in the form of fiction, it wouldn't sell because it would be so unbelievable. It's going to be like very bad fiction the more I get into it.

I hope tomorrow to discuss the piano forum families. It depends though. I'm finding with blogs you never know where you're going to end up and I've only written two posts!

HOLY CARP!!!
Wow. So wrenching and heart-breaking. I can't even imagine, Peggy.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!
