I don't see that it's that bad. It's not very good PR, but 2.8% isn't much of a payrise - and comparing them with the Detroit executives is a little unfair - those guys get sh!tloads of money by comparison.

Maybe if we paid our politicians more, we'd get better politicians?

What is a Congressman's annual salary? Benefits? Even after retirement? This raise is ridiculous, and if it's only a small raise that doesn't really amount to much, then it feels like a slap in the face to the American public. Either way, this is absolute sh!t.
