If God cared that we trusted, then we wouldn't need to defend ourselves. God would do it. |

You may be referring to God the magician. God the magician was invented by Ax and his friends to make them feel superior. The In God We Trust God is the greater good. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

I can certainly trust in the greater good and the principles that this nation was founded upon, and I have no problem with "In God We Trust." In fact, if we toss out, "In God We Trust," then maybe we should also toss out, "E Pluribus Unum." To hell with all of it. We don't need anymore of those teeming huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Our skyscrapers and railroads are built. Execute the illegals in the streets, burn any flag that isn't a flag of the United States, prevent anyone who isn't a natural born citizen from owning any kind of property or business, and announce to the world that we aren't taking anymore immigrants. |

You HAVE to give O credit for trying to be inclusive. I don't think we have ever seen a politician of this Shall we give him the benefit of the doubt for a few months? EDIT: As to the GOD part, it doesn't matter. If jf |

Haven't seen much of that around here, AC. You seem to always bring this up, and it's pretty ugly of you to do so, and just as ugly as those who do the chestpounding. Neither one is very civilized, is it?

I'm all for giving Obama the benefit of the doubt. I don't particularly like or dislike him, at the moment. I do think the press has given him a free pass, and spent an inordinate time ripping Sarah Palin apart and jeering at John McCain. Also, Jack: The presidential term is 4 years. Not 8. Let's take things one term at a time, shall we? |

Hubris? Look: I'm proud of my country, you're proud of yours, and other citizens of other countries are proud of theirs. That's as it should be. I've lived in other countries and gotten along just fine. I personally don't spend much time wrapping myself in the flag, because most of the time, I find the citizens of my country to be a source of embarrassment. Set me down in any modern country and I'll get along just fine.

It's sort of an all-around title. Based in good measure on founding priciples, and the growth and longevity of those principles. |

I don't have a problem with an invocation and it shouldn't come as any big surprise that this is a slap in the face to gays and lesbians, but for some reason--even though BO had no problem slighting us in the election season--I am a little surprised. I honestly thought he'd try a little harder. Maybe the gay community will finally wake up from their cool aid induced stupor.
After all the about faces, lies and deception? Eh. Maybe, but just a little. Just. |

I'll say the same thing I said at WTF: Awwwww - did the gay community get fooled by the Dems again? Did you REALLY think a black guy was going to be pro-gay? Obviously, the right question to ask is not what his personal beliefs are, but what is politically better for him - who has the most votes and polictical power? The left annointed and elected an opportunist. It doesn't mean he will be a bad president, but it was clear from day one that he will do what is in his own best interests. ![]() |
