Thank you.

We talked about this yesterday in IT's thread. I have an Omron HEM780 that is pretty good - $80 at Walgreens. It can be a little screwy sometimes though. Stay away from the wrist cuffs.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Thank you all.

I had scanned the comparisons of the Omron models on amazon. What concerned me about the 780 was that the review was by a user two years ago. Nothing recent, but since one of you have bought the 780, I might make that my purchase.

Mikhailoh, what are the screwy things about the 780?

Get yours without the automatic rectal thermometer. This little arm pops out and then... "HEEEYARRRRRRGH!!!"

It can give false readings at times. More accurate when you use Intellisense.

Hi Mikhailoh,

I looked up your model, and it does have intellisense. Does the intellisense feature mean you have to do something in addition to just pressing the start button?

Thanks!

Intellisense does a couple of things as I understand it. First, it actually takes your BP reading three times about a minute apart, resulting in ostensibly a more accurate reading. I have found this to be true, although I don't always use it. The second thing it does is detect an irregular heartbeat, which is a good feature if that is important to you.

Okay, so you have to set up the intellisense on the monitor. I was reading some of the other features -- could be scarey, like a warning if you are hypertensive, or a warning if you have early morning hypertension. I hope an alarm doesn't go off on those warnings (Just kidding -- I am sure it doesn't). But, I would almost be hypertensive sitting there while the thing is pumping up in fear that one of those warnings would show up. Still, that model is probably on my purchase list for the future.
