So, I'm watching a documentary about Roy Orbison that I...er...obtained over the interwebs, and this guy was interviewed, saying, "We were just some kids from Liverpool, playing Roy Orbison's music."

I would have never, ever recognized him.

Who is he?

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

It's not Noone. I saw him just a few years ago and he looked younger than this fellow.

I only hope it's because I'm too young to know him, not Alzheimer's, but I can't place him.

Feel free to keep the suspense intact for others in the morning. Someone's bound to figure it out then.

I could make a crack about the old geezers who get up at the crack of dawn to use the toilet, but I'll refrain. I'm just glad you and I aren't that old, George. :D

HOLY CARP!!!
If he's from Liverpool and of that era, he has to be Gerry from Gerry and the Pacemakers. Can't think of another group that fits.

They did "Ferry Cross the Mersey."

Ok, just googled him now. He's the same age as . . . Paul McCartney! Wow, does Paul look so much better. I guess if you start with a cute face, it ages well.

I heard Paul had some cosmetic surgery. True or not?

IT and I just saw him on a recent TV concert -- doesn't look like he's had any surgery. He has the typical droops and wrinkles for his age. He looks great though, as usual.

Looks like he's ready for a comeback tour: Gerry and the Biventricular Pacemakers.

I knew that, of course, because my head is full of that trivia and I lived through it.

How the heck did you know, MS?

I recognized him immediately, but only because he's still a minor celeb in the UK - he did a re-release of 'Ferry Cross the Mersey' after the Hillsborough football disaster in the late 80's. I think a band with that name still plays with him as a front man - although it is a bit of a Benidorm holiday band.

Incidentally, I hate that bloody song, since if you actually take the ferry across the Mersey, as I used to do frequently when I lived close by, they play it EVERY. FREAKING. TRIP.

Probably from watching a TV ad for those '60s music CDs. :D

I have a very good memory -- I see or hear something and it sticks.

The one I really hate is "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying."

Please tell me that isn't the same one as that wonderful song by Ray Charles. I don't think I could cope with the idea of Gerry and the Pacemakers butchering that.
