Yesterday they started waking her every four hours. She seems to know what is going on when they ask her to blink once or twice as her yes and no responses. She has been moved to a step down unit, instead of the ICU. That's a great sign.

Now she needs to get strong enough and breathing well enough that she can endure another 8-hour surgery on the back of her spine to remove tumors from there. It's a long road for her, but every day she makes it is a day closer to getting through it.

Uncle Dick is doing better now, too, since she made it past the first surgery.
Thank you for all your prayers. She will need them for a while yet.

She had her second surgery. It was another long one, about 8 hours, and she is doing fine. She's minus some vertebrae and has a metal rod in her back now. It makes my knees weak just to consider it.

The docs say she is a remarkably strong woman. They even moved the second surgery up and got it done sooner because they felt she was already strong enough to handle it.

She's a remarkable person and I'm grateful for your prayers of support. It sounds like she is beyond the scary part and now has to spend a great deal of time healing. That will take quite a while.

Thank you!

It really is great, Frank. She 'coded' during the first surgery, so this is really great news to be done with the second one.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.
