I don't worry a bunch about all the post-obit articles. Obama only managed to win 1% more of the popular vote than Bush won in 2004, with a recession, war fatigue and low Bush approval ratings in his favor. Glen Beck did a standard man-in-the-street bit where he'd ask people why they were voting for Obama. Most didn't know and couldn't tell you. Some did manage to stammer "change", but when asked which policy of Obama's most appealed to them, they couldn't name one. I think the Republican Party is alive and well, but sharpening up its philosophy with a new set of leaders. |

Some things are self fulfilling. Decades of leftwing ideology eroding the fabric of our society, ruining our education system, watering down family values, turning out graduates who can't read, who can't think, who had what little education they managed to retain infected with Marxist atheist radicals, and the result is an increasingly stupid populace. What we're seeing is the idiot level in the country having reached sufficient proportion that those capable of rational thought are almost outnumbered by the idiots. |

Larry, you have been saying the democratic party is dead for many years now. Au contraire, at this moment it is stronger than it has been since 1988--perhaps -- more so. You were clearly wrong. jf |

I'm not wrong at all, Jack. The Democrat party *IS* dead. It died years ago. It was infiltrated by hard left Socialists and Marxists, and over the last 20 years it has been dying a slow death. What you see as being "stronger" is simply the result of the democrat party finally dying, and the birth of the New Left, the Socialist Party of America. All that's left of the Democrat party is the name - they still find it useful as they continue to fool those who call themselves democrats. |

Larry, i am not sure what you mean by dead, but the Democrats contol the President, Senate and House. They will make the next 8 years of judicial appointments. They are two moderate Maine Senators away from a filibuster-proof block. They have increased the statehouses they control.... And what has become of the permanent Republican majority? You are delusional if you think the Democratic party is dead. For better or worse, they have not been this powerful for 20 years. jf |

I know you don't know what I mean by it, Jack. And that's sad, actually. Go look up what the democrat party stood for in 1950. Compare it to what they stand for today. Yes Jack, there is a group of politicians who call themselves democrats. Just like there's a group of politicians who call themselves republicans. Neither party exists any more. The republican party drifted until it became the democrats, then drifted more until it lost track of even that. The democrat party died and was replaced by the Socialist party. They can call themselves Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck - but the democrat party is dead. It has been replaced.
No, the democrat party is dead. The party that replaced it is the one that's in power now. If the country can manage to survive it, that will change 2 years from now, if we are lucky. |

To me this is right up there with the comments about Bush's intelligence and how he stole the election (if Bush was so dumb but still managed to steal the election, one would have to conclude that Al Gore was even more lacking in intelligence than Bush, to have him steal the election out from under him). No matter what you say Palin IS Governor of Alaska - voted there by Alaskans, and she has had a first Vice Presidential run. Now about all those left wing news outlets that printed the story about Palin, and Africa being a country, without first checking their facts............................ |

Larry, both parties evolve. That's a fact. time you waked up. Here is a pearl from your Republican genius.... "My concern has been the atrocities there in Darfur and the relevance to me with that issue as we spoke about Africa and some of the countries there that were kind of the people succumbing to the dictators and the corruption of some collapsed governments on the continent, the relevance was Alaska’s investment in Darfur with some of our permanent fund dollars." jf |

Jack, I think you missed Larry's point. When the voting block jumps up and down with "Vote for Obama" and "Vote Democrat!!!" - but can't answer why. . . That's Larry's point (I think). Even Jay Leno had fun with it by interviewing people on the street. So many people conditioned to vote for change, yet not one could think of even one objective reason why. |

Jack, now that's a nice little fantasy you're bought into, but it's pure bull sh!t. Both parties have *devolved*. At least there are some republicans left who understand what the country stands for, what the people want, and what made this country what it is, and where they went wrong. No one in the democrat party understands that, Jack. None of them. You sure don't. The democrat party is dead, Jack. It died a long time ago, and the Socialists just kicked its corpse into its grave. |

I understand, but I don't think that's any different than it's ever been. The great problem with democracy is that the people get to vote.
