A long time ago, in a land far away... there was a law in the Jewish kingdom that once every 7 years, every Jew (man, woman, child) was required to gather in Jerusalem where the king would read out loud the biblical "constitution", which consisted of all the laws and judicial guidelines. What that did is it reminded not just the people but also the king, once every 7 years, exactly what the laws were that not only applied to the people but also to the king. Do you think this would be a good idea for POTUS, say once every 4 years / 2 years / 1 year / ______ to go on national television and read out-loud the American constitution? Sometimes it seems we need a little reminder of what that piece of paper actually says; or would it be just a wasted effort? |

God no. For the President to read the constitution on TV, it would mean at least two weeks of him practicing with voice coaches, tele-prompter operators, and various PR and other low types, to ensure that he got all of the inflections correct and didn't provide ammunition to those who claim he doesn't understand what all those blokes in wigs actually meant all that time ago. I don't vote, but I do pay taxes, and this would cost a bloody fortune. I want the president to continue to do what he does best - |
| What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket? | |
