Again, you have no way of proving *who* "really really likes her". I'm sure there are people who do - just as I'm sure there are people who find her disgusting because of her political bias, and consequential worthlessness as a "journalist". That doesn't make any difference one way or the other, since we aren't talking about popularity contests, we are talking about whether or not people like her as a news reporter.

And if they liked her as a news reporter, she would have an audience. Since her audience is practically nonexistent and getting smaller by the day, it is unarguable that they do not like her in the way that is pertinent to the discussion. Whatever other angle you wish to inject in your effort to satisfy your usual pursuit of arcane debate cannot change that fact.

As for "really really" liking Rush Limbaugh, while I rarely get a chance to listen to him, it's ironic that you should mention him, since he is such a terrific example of someone people *so* "really really liked" in the context of this discussion that he has the largest listening audience of any program on radio.

Perhaps the demographics come into play here however.... Forgetting party politics for a moment and just considering Left vs Right - perhaps the reason Rush has such a large audience and Little Miss Muffet has such a small one is because people on the right are interested and engaged in current events, while those on the left are less engaged and more divided in their loyalties.... given the two groups that make up the democrat party, my guess is the reason even the Left doesn't watch Little Miss Muffet all that much is because one group is listening to Howard Stern or watching Championship Mud Wrestling, while the other group is listening to Prairie Home Companion while nodding their head approvingly as they glance around the room to see who is noticing them.

Most of America likes Katie, which is why she has the job she has. Picking a fight with Katie, will not win her votes.

Seeing as how Couric's ratings are so bad they've talked about tanking her, and her ratings have gone down even further since that was being discussed, I'd say "most of America" doesn't give a rat's ass about Katie.

You're dead wrong, because it doesn't fit your world view.

Most of America likes Katie. Most of America doesn't want to hear the news from Katie. Both of those statements are true, and that's why her ratings are low. In that sense, like Oprah ... Oprah has a pretty substantial audience, but no one wants to hear the news from her.

OTOH, I wouldn't pick a fight with her. It alienates a potential audience that you don't need to alienate.

Just as it would be a poor idea for Obama to talk about what a terrible President Reagan was. He might think it, but it won't win him votes among centrists to say so.

Dude, they plugged Meredith in for her, and Today never missed a beat.

I suspect Katie's Q rating is not near what it was...

I guess Sarah doesn't 'get' that the interviewer ultimately directs the agenda once the cameras roll.  She never saw the bigger picture, of why she was being interviewed.  Politicians need to be in tune  with the pulse of their people.  Her credibility has been questioned over & over these last weeks.  She needed to come off as credible, astute, articulate to Katie, and in every single on camera interview.  She hasn't.  That's too bad.

I don't remember a time in American politics where a candidate for high office announced as Sarah Palin did in the debate that she was not going to answer questions in a way that would satisfy the moderator and opponent, and then blatantly ignored questions and proceeded to give unrelated speeches.

It's like apple said, she doesn't feel obligated to answer any question, at any time. It makes for bizarre interviews and debate performances. It's really outlying behavior, if I can put it mildly. And independents do not like it. The base likes it, but I can't think of anyone else who would like it. I literally don't remember another politician who blatantly came out and said they could "pivot" and not answer questions. It's incredibly arrogant.

Most of them don't announce it, they just do it.

I find it rather refreshing that a candidate actually told the the Truth. Wonder when Obama will start?

Ah, we've identified the source of your misunderstanding. We are absolutely NOT talking about whether people like her as a news reporter. If Palin starts bashing her, all that matters is whether people like her generally.

It is not my "misunderstanding", but yours. We absolutely ARE talking about whether people like her as a news reporter. The negative things Palin is saying about her are not about her as a person, but about her as a reporter. Even if you can't figure out the difference, most people can - and since it is quite obvious that most people don't think that much of her as a reporter to start with, they won't be very offended by Palin pointing out an example of why they had already come to view Little Miss Muffet as not worth watching.
