Obama was a sock!!! ZOMG! WTF!

Obama was a girl sock!!! Double ZOMG!!!

I was doin' that whole girl/girl thing* and I didn't even know it? Wow!

*not that there's anything wrong with that

By sheer coincidence I happened to be looking at the user list at the very time you posted. I noticed an interesting thing.....

I noticed Jack log off, you log on, post, log off, and then Jack logged on again.

All in a sequence..

So it looks like *both* of you are guilty of abusing us with your socks.

Wrong again Einstein. Glad you have nothing better to do though than stalk the socks!

This must be the 12th time you have accused me of being one sock or another. I'll let you in on a little secret: I have only created one sock here ever, and I never used it--not a single post.

i see my job as moderator to be  a smutorator and spamorator - i don't check the numbers .. i tried once.. it's very time consuming unless someone happens to be posting under two names at once.

it's kind of sad that someone so so ostracized that they must appear incognito to speak their mind.

(how does one say tolerance in Latin?)

I really don't think KK is ostracized here. She and Larry have bad blood. Everyone else pretty much takes her as she is, a poster with a leftist political position. I don't see a whole lot of victimization going on here, but then again I'm not a leftist so I don't buy into the whole poor-me-no-one-likes-me-so-I have-to-get-a-sock-to-make-my-point victimization routine.

She chose to take on an Obama sock -- maybe for fun -- I don't care. I think it was a bad idea since she so poorly represented him and wound up attacking people and incurring a whole lot of bad will as a sock that if she were just speaking as herself she would have gotten the whole "I disagree with you vehemently", and undoubtedly in the rough and tumble nature of things here, but would not have had the added dynamic of being an obvious shill who hid behind a sock to make points.

Keep up the good work as the smutorator and spamorator. I guess mods don't have the godlike omniscience and omnipotence I thought they did.

PS: tolerantia

Well, you are wrong. Besides Larry, there have only been a few who have gone out of their way to make me feel unwelcome. But, that's enough. Add to that the tacit approval of nearly every body else here by standing silent when really disgusting outrageous things are directed at me, and if that doesn't feel like ostracization, I don't know what does. OT experienced the same thing. So, did Rick, and he left, so did Grim Reaper, whoever that is, and more than a handful of others.

And, I'll let you in another little secret. I don't think JF will mind. Obama was actually his sock initially, but he never used him. On occasion, I would read posts here smearing Obama or he'd tell me about something that had been written here. I would get all riled up and say, "you should say xyz" which he would never do. After a few of these conversations, he told me about his unused Obama sock and suggested I use it. So, I did. It wasn't for fun. It was for a purpose: Refuting false claims about Obama. Was it fun? Well, I have to admit, I did end up rather enjoying it. It was great to be able to state my case without the usual personal jabs and insults. Sure there was plenty of cursing and feigned outrage at the presence of the sock. But, I was personally insulated from it.

And you are so exaggerating to say that I used it to insult people. I rarely even argued with anyone. I generally stated my case and left. As I've pointed out already, the only insults Obama made were referring to you as Your Brilliancy (once) and referring to Larry as Genius (once) - both after snarky or downright nasty comments from you. I challenge you to find any others. I find it laughable that anyone here would get all het up over that relative to the slurs that are regularly exchanged here.

Socks that attempt to engage in legitimate discussion deserve any and all abuse that they get.  -_-

I disagree.

Why? I see no reason to give respect to any sock who attacks others. If they want to put themselves out there, they are fair game for all the stupid things they say, much more so than the "real" people here.

I will once again refute this. Obama was never an attack sock, unless you consider having your ideas challenged an attack.

C'mon, folks - I didn't really understand the point of the Obama sock, but he was hardly offensive. I've seen more than one person write a lot worse. Stop with the mock horror.

All this outrage is rather reminiscent of this guy, IMO

Bad blood is putting it mildly. Kathy can't post anything here without Larry dumping on her; it's so bad in fact that I hesitate to even open a thread with her name, because I know it will be ugly, and fast. And that's a real shame, when someone gets treated like that. Just because Larry is unwilling to let her speak her mind, none of us gets to know her here. I strongly resent someone trying to run the show here, but I'm not willing to jump in the cess pool to join the battle, so end up being categorized as someone who stands by silently and tacitly approves.

I'm not crazy about any of the political socks, but I certainly can see why Kathy would use one.

I would also like to point out that while my political leanings are decidedly left, I 'don't buy into the whole poor-me-no-one-likes-me-so-I have-to-get-a-sock-to-make-my-point victimization routine' either. Not sure where you're getting that brush from, IT.

Well Sue, since I made a very specific point about Apple buying into the nonsense that KK was victimized into using a sock to make her point, it is not at all a broad brush. In fact it was positively pointillistic. ;)

And FWIW, I don't buy into that "if-you-saying-anything-about-a-particular-liberal-you-are-painting-with-a-broad-brush-and-I-am-going-to-take-offense-at-it" either. :sword:

No Kathy -- you are in a world of your own. You did use the sock aggressively, and you stumbled many times by make the point poorly and when called on it (at least twice) you got aggressive and stepped out of the facade of agreeablity that both your Obama sock and Obama himself should portray.

There is no such thing as a snarky comment to a sock. You thought yourself clever adopting a sock and trying to make points politically, and it turned out that you could not even keep in Obama's studied irenic and supposedly high minded character purporting to be a uniter when the sock was being assailed. Once you gave up the high ground your sock was nothing but raw meat. It's not my fault that you couldn't keep up the pretense.

No one, at least not me, got at all riled up. You had your fun adopting the sock of someone you love, I had my fun attacking in the persona of a sock someone who I despise.

The main thing is we both had fun.

Got any proof? I remember it the way Kathy is reporting it. I mostly remember vicious attacks against the Obama sock, with nary a word said about the Al Gore or HRC socks ... because those were run by members of the conservative cabal.

At least when I attack Kathy you know who it is doing it, and most of you know why.

None of the other political socks have tried to argue a serious case, other than the Obama sock. It wasn't that she had a sock - it was how she used it. If she wanted to argue she should argue as herself. If she can't handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen.
