I'm still feeling my way around.  I worry that I may never find it.

Remember, it's the journey that counts, not the destination.

(Figured I'd say it before Aqua did! )

There are no peaks, only plateaus. Don't stay on them too long, or you'll stagnate.

I hope you never reach your professional peak, R2. Keep climbin'.

Yeah, thanks, you're right.

Who would ever guess that'd I'd find some nugget of truth here on TNCR?

Free Rider, I've changed careers (attorney to yoga teacher to writer who teaches yoga). I've not stayed in one place long enough to truly excel. I'm talking about exceling in some professional area.

But RR and AL are right. I excel in the process. :sombrero:

Right on... :) Just keep on following what you want to do, keep reaching for your very best, and you've got it made. Once you get to the pinnacle of whatever career choice, then what? There's more fun to be had in the climbing and the journey. :thumb:

Well I hope you're aware of the implied responsibility to post some recordings when you finally get around to it.

It's not only plateaus. There are also enormous crevaces. They are hard to see, but often have the warning sign 'Promotion' next to them.

I liked to feel "joy" again. I know it's out there, but I'm having trouble finding it. Of course, I see pure joy in the babies faces everyday so, I know it's there. I just can't feel it.

I'd like to patch up my faith. It's pretty tattered and ragged so it's going to take a lot of work. I may even have to start from scratch if I want to save it.

And, I'd like to get back caring about other people. There's so much I simply don't care about right now. So many things I cared about before that now I simply don't have time for.

In other words, I guess I have to find me again before I can venture into other areas. My life was pretty good several months ago. Happy family. Happy home. Mark and I together. Grandbabies. Simplicity. Love. Joy. We had it.

All gone. Well probably not gone. But just needing fixed.

Your love and compassion and patience with yourself and your processes, must come first, Peggy. Once you've filled your own cup, then you'll have more than enough to give out to others without depleting yourself. Be good to yourself..

Peggy what a well-written post. Thanks for sharing.

There's a reason Dante put the sign "Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate", or "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here" on the gate of hell.

I am happy to see hope among all of you. I am thinking about a little more travel now, particularly as my children become dispersed across the country. Perhaps it's particularly on my mind because one who had moved home to attend graduate school just departed last week to a new job in another city. I also foresee retirement as a possibility and begin to think about pursuit of some of my avocations on a more frequent basis.

My wife and I started "dating" again after the last child left for college a few years ago and we had fewer family and school events demanding our time. That has been a real joy.

I have never really travelled outside the US. I really want to get out and see some other places.

Is there a aspect to your life you wish was different?

May I suggest the first week of November? Lovely time to travel.
