Yes! We sold our house!!!

Just closed last Fri., and turned over the keys. Our asking price was too high. We never put out a sign on the lawn. We did one day of open house. We insisted that we not close until after June, so my daughter could finish up school where she is, and we wouldn't have to move into an interim apartment to do so.

We sold for exactly $1000 more than our asking price.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

All real estate is local.

There are national trends, but local factors overwhelm those.

Congratulations!

Congrats!

That never happens here, but in Toronto, houses often sell for well over asking price.

Well done.  Now here do you live again?

Thanks! Our house was in Astoria, Queens, NY.

We moved up to northern Westchester County.

Congratulations!
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Phlebas well done!

Westchester has a reputation for being one of the wealthiest counties in the US...or at least in the top 5. Kinda makes me think you must be doing something right.

I hope the move goes painlessly. Movin' in is ALWAYS more fun than movin' out. When the dust settles perhaps you'll post a pic or two of your new pad?

I will. We're actually renting a town house, just to make sure we like the area, my daughter settles into the school, etc.

I forgot to mention: the buyer'e lender is Indymac - failed about a week ago - so I was biting my nails alll week about the closing.

I was gonna ask about the loan you got. I know that industry is er..undergoing some changes!

I hope you went fixed rate and locked in a decent % earlier.

Awesome!

I don't have a loan now. I was the seller, and for now I'm renting.
The buyers got their loan via Indymac.

My old mortgage was a standard 30 yr. fixed rate via Chase.

What's your new commute like?

Thank you.
I work in White Plains - sometimes in Manhattan - so my train ride is about 30 minutes. I used to drive from Queens to WP, which was 45 min to an hour each way.

So the new location is closer? Bonus! You'll save $$ on gas as well.

Hopefully you have a nice spot for a piano? 1st floor straight shot through double doors?

Are you psyched about the new location?

It's much less driving - 6 miles to the train, vs. 24 miles each way to work. It's a lovely location. I'm worried about my daughter settling in. She was fine with it a couple of months ago, but last week she kind of kicked up (too late to do anything about it.).

I grew up there.

A little south of there. Eastchester/Scarsdale, and then Hartsdale.

That's a very nice area. I would need a second mortgage just to pay the taxes there now.
