And back then you were thinking that Wow! in 39 years we'll probably have outposts on all 9 planets. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

George, Copper, do you remember where you were? I was an infant in Dallas. Too young to remember. |
| In my defense, I was left unsupervised. | |

I remember it like it was yesterday. At least, no more than a week and a half ago.

Absolutely. I had gotten home from a weekend in the Indiana Dunes where I had stayed with my friend's aunt and uncle. We drove home that afternoon (it was a Sunday) and I watched it live at my parent's home - I was on the floor, on my stomach watching the fuzzy picture. |

We watched it at my grandparents' house (because they had color TV). I was laying on the floor, with my head on a pillow tucked below the coffee table (my usual position). It was amazing. |

Y'know what the scariest moment must have been? Shutting the LEM engines down. Tough place to get a jump. |

Actually it was probably during the landing. They had a hard time finding a good spot to touch down and almost ran out of gas. |

Did you know that Armstrong only had about 15 seconds of fuel left before he had to abort. Seems that the mapping done by other missions would have landed them in a field of boulders and craters. So Armstrong flew the LEM, scouting out a suitable spot to set down. If he exceeded 15 seconds, there would have not been enough fuel for the LEM to get back into lunar orbit. Gas stations are a bitch to find as well up there. Edit: AL we cross posted. |

I stayed up late to watch it on TV with my father. We filmed it with our Super-8 home movie camera. I can picture it like it was yesterday - ghostly black-and-white shadow images dancing around on the moon. |

You know what I remember as scary? The first time they had a Go! for TLI, the Trans-Lunar Injection burn. It was on Apollo 8 - the first trip around the moon. They were the first people to blast out of Earth orbit. I remember that as kind of mind boggling. Of course waiting for Apollo 11 to blast off from the moon was exciting too, but I remember that first TLI. |

I attended a moon landing party with a bunch of friends - beer and pizza and a lot of staring at a wavy, grainy image on the tv. |

I remember it because dad let us watch TV during dinner. He took photos of the TV screen, which are somewhere at mom's house. |
