We need to test the theory from Larry's Truisms thread that the weirder the cell phone ring the more annoying the person. What's your cell phone ring? Mine is the default blackberry ring, the one it ships with. And be honest.

Mine's always set on vibra-alarm. I have no idea what my ringtone is; probably the default Nokia ringtone. If I absolutely had to choose a ringtone and my phone supported MP3 (I have no idea whether or not it does), I'd probably go for Ligeti's Volumina. Or maybe Penderecki's Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima. |

I can have a different ring for every person that calls if I wish. My piano teacher has the opening of the 3rd movement of the Rach3. It is actually a real recording of it. My oldest daughter's ring is Land of Confusion and my middle daughter's ring is YES, Parallels. My wife's ring is a klaxon that sounds like we are at DEFCON 1. For everyone else, it's Ring Ring Ring like an old time telephone. |

old telephone ring I used to have some classical pieces, such as Waltz of the Flowers, but whenever my phone rang, I would think -- oh, that's lovely music! -- and it wouldn't occur to me that my phone was ringing. The funniest ring tones are the Star Trek/sci-fi ring tones. Especially when they go off during class and the person has to fumble around for their phone. Major GUFFAW! |

Mine is some jazzy relaxing thing. All the other ones were obnoxious. Janet and Lauren have different rings for everyone. I can't be bothered with that. |

Verizon default warble. I've received comments on how pleasing it is, so I haven't changed it. |

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool. I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss! - Cecil Lewis | |

Eurythmics 'here comes the rain again'. Hadn't planned on keeping that, I was just having fun when my phone was new, but I'm so used to it now, and am not likely to do much about it. I wanted something that wasn't too shrill, and it was in the midst of the winter rainy season when I got it. The number of people who have the old fashioned 'ring' on their cells surprises me.....I hear that go off in the library at least once a week. People who choose that ringtone seem to like to keep it on super-loud, I've noticed. My son, for some reason known only to him and his friends, has a mooing cow as his ringtone. |
