Just heard on CNN that Phil Gramm is resigning as co-chair of the McCain campaign.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Do you think that there's room under the bus for all the people that have been jettisoned by both campaigns? Gramm was a liability for McCain.

I'm not a big Phil Gramm phan. I grew to dislike him when he ran the Banking committee.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

What does it matter?

Rasmussen has him in a virtual dead heat with Obama, and Obama has had the most favorable press I've seen a candidate have in my lifetime.

Which is most interesting...

The interesting thing about McCain is, I don't think he listens to political pros. He makes up his own mind, and follows his own instincts.

So who the hell knows what he's going to do? I sure don't.

For the record, I agree with Q about Gramm. In fact I’d go even farther in my condemnation of him based on inside information. The man belongs either on a gibbet or behind bars.

It showed poor judgment on McCain's part to choose him in the first place. His experience consisted of trying to to invest in one soft core porn film and investing in another, and even that failed. We don't need another administration filled with cronyism and incompetence.

Phil Gramm isn't inexperienced or incompetent.

He's just a terrible human being.

Same here.

I've met her a few times, I was never impressed. I always figured she was riding her husband's coattails.

It would be nice if he started to run for President, however.

No, my point is that he's doing pretty well, even when his campaign has been lousy.

Now, some may say that's because of Obama's race...I don't think so...Obama has a lot of problems for a general election candidate, mostly because he's too far Left. The more people actually start to look at him, the more independents take another look at McCain's resume.

If McCain actually could find another gear for his campaign, I think he's got a decent shot.

But do you think he really is? Seems like a rerun of Bush '92, without the incumbency.

Sen. McCain Announces Late White House Bid
by Scott Ott

(2008-07-19) — With presumptive President of the United States Barack Obama out of the country, Republican Sen. John McCain, of Arizona, today announced that he intends to challenge Sen. Obama in November’s general election.

Although experts agree that the Democrat nominee has the presidency all but locked up, Sen. McCain told several dozen cheering supporters that he’s “in it to win.”

“My friends, this is not just a vanity campaign to position myself for a sweeter advance payment from some book publisher,” said Sen. McCain. “I actually intend to be sitting in the Oval Office this time next year.”

None of the major TV networks covered the McCain announcement, however, since all of their anchors and reporters were in Afghanistan following the Obama campaign.

Mr. McCain, best known among Republicans for taking principled stands against Republicans, said he would take advantage of his rival’s absence to make speeches distancing himself from President George W. Bush.

He's not inexperienced in investing in failed soft porn movies. I know that's the kind of person I want advising a man who might be the next President of the United States on economic matters.

Oh, well. Good PR to dump him and more time for McCain to focus on Bush's his plan to privatize Social Security.

I don't know how you can support this guy, Quirt. I really don't.

Hillary, Obama, now McCain. *I've* been following. I have a feeling your issues are 1. what you think is good for Israel and 2. what you think is good for rich New Yorkers. I'll vote based on who's going to be put the Supreme Court, but that's just me.

You keep writing this. Do you have any evidence other than blogs and leftist propaganda? Why does googling "phil gramm" "truck stop women" only get 733 hits?
"phil gramm" "porn movies" only gets 406 hits.

Yet you get 81,600 hits for "bill clinton" "porn movies". :P

There you go bringing up Social Security again like you actually know something about it. You've already had your ass handed to you on that issue. Even the actuaries for the Social Security system showed that you don't have a clue.
