HOLY CARP!!!
|
We just got back from our trip, and it's such an amazing bonding experience with the kids. We have 17 days left until they leave, and I HATE knowing that I only have that short time with them. That's what sucks about teaching grade 8. I'm sick as a dog, and was told several times that I need to stay home tomorrow. My kids were saying that I needed to rest. I told them flat out that I only have 17 days with them, and I didn't want to miss any of them. They thought it was sweet (and were super nice to me all day). Then we found out that our Vice-Principal who I LOVE, and who has done amazing things for our staff and school, got transferred to another school to be principal. Great for her, sucks for us. I'm excited for summer, but closing out the year is hard.

You know, most teachers just can't wait to be rid of their kids. You are amazing, Dol.

That's a side-effect of being too dedicated.

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

It happens every year for me too...mine are seniors, going away to college. It's so wonderful to know they're ready, and so awful at the same time. |

Oh, don't get me wrong. There are times when I'm SO done with them and ready for them to GO. However, the last month is always fantastic, and the pod-people who take them over from January through April disappear and leave these really amazing kids. Deb - one thing I do wish is that I could still chit-chat with my kids on occassion. And I get to, with the ones who stop in. But I find that the ones I miss most are the ones who aren't the type to drop by for a visit. |

Facebook has been the most wonderful thing. You know how theatre kids are, they stick together and come back to roost when they can. They spend so much time in the theatre that it feels like 'home' to them and they long for it when they're away. I'm really grateful for that. They come back, and via facebook, keep me posted on their lives. The annual thespian awards banquet was just last week...it was about 3/4 current students and 1/4 past. I love that. We have a strong tradition. I'm getting a lump in my throat though, so I'm gonna stop this :-) |
