As part of a larger article about McCain in the NYT:

Quote:

I think any Republican who doesn’t say panic is in the wind is lying through their shirt,” said Ron Kaufman, who was a senior adviser this year for Mitt Romney.

It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010.

want to post a link? Out of context, my answer may not have much relationship to what he was talking about. Even so, I'd like to say that 'panic' is a ridiculous and totally worthless waste of energy. I don't indulge in hysteria, and I reserve the right to smack anyone in my general vicinity who does.

Panic?

Possibly.

I'm actually enjoying watching the people who hijacked the republican party panic.

They should panic. They screwed the party.

Another quote, in today's Wall Street Journal, from a guy I have a lot of respect for.

Quote:

"Large numbers of voters are clearly motivated to action because they dislike George Bush. That's a big problem for John McCain and a big problem for congressional Republicans," said former Minnesota Rep. Vin Weber, who advised Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.

And another line in the same story:

Quote:

The road is tougher for House Republicans, who have lost three straight special elections in GOP-leaning congressional districts and are beginning to panic about the general-election outlook.

Yeah but they are running the wrong way.

Back and Forth, back and forth the pendulum swings between two different forms of tyranny.
