I Owe It All To John D'Oh

Ack! That's so wonderful and sad, all at the same time!!! |

HOLY CARP!!!

Thinking of you, Deb, and understanding your tears. Brian came down this weekend (I missed him Mother's Day) and spent a couple of days with us. We miss him so much. I've been crying all day. And he's 21 and NOT in the Army. Of course, the tears are for Denise too. God bless your daughter! Godspeed to her and keep us informed of where's she's going and what's she's doing. |

Quirt...that's the thing that has me so weirded out. It's WONDERFUL...everything is so perfect for her. She is getting to do everything she has ever wanted to do. She's going to be making money on the deal. YEA. I can handle joy. I can handle sadness. It's this back and forth thing that has me feeling wobbly and stupid, I guess. Peggy, I can imagine how hard it is to be separated from Brian at this particular time. I am glad you got to see him a little bit. |

Deb, I so relate to what you're experiencing! First of all, congratulations to her and you for a job well done! Second, there will still be many more milestones to come, and your child will *always* be your child, no matter what age! I'll bet you felt the same tugging at the heartstrings when she entered kindergarten. Third, and ya gotta trust me on this one, you won't believe how easy it is to adjust to an empty nest -- to the point where it feels like an "invasion" the first time your little darling comes home from school for more than a day! When Lindsey came home for her first Thanksgiving break, about the first 30 minutes after her arrival, with the phone ringing nonstop and loud music coming from an upstairs stereo, Improv and I looked at each other and wondered when she would be leaving. |

thanks Plays....I needed that! You're right...I can sort of imagine, a few more years down the line when Merry's gone too, that we may get used to having time/space to ourselves. I'm definitely enjoying this time though. I'm really glad she won't be far for the next 4 years, while Merry is in high school. They will graduate the same spring. They are extremely close, so it's nifty that they can be part of each other's lives on a frequent basis for a few more years. Amy's university is actually closer to Merry's dance studio than it is to our house. Merry's been over to spend the night in the dorms with Amy's friends already...I may not see much of either of them once school starts in the fall! |
