Is this the opposite of deja vu?; A strange coincidence

HOLY CARP!!!
So yesterday I was watching a movie (Mona Lisa Smile). I had never seen it before. It is set in the 1950's and has a scene of a men's choral group singing a song at a women's college.

I had never heard that song before in my life although the tune sounded a lot like Irving Berlin's "Putting on the ritz". I thought it was a very charming song and, not never having heard it before assumed it was something written just for the movie. Then just a few hours later I was watching some other show and a snippet from the same song was played.

I then found out that the song has been around since 1953 and reached number 10 on the music charts. In fact, it has been remade by They Might Be Giants not too long ago. I think it is so strange that I had never heard the song before and then hear it twice in one day. I have had this sort of thing happen several other times in my life. Seems so weird. Maybe I have short term memory problems.

The lyrics:

"Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks

Istanbul (Istanbul)
Istanbul (Istanbul)

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks

Istanbul"

This happens when I learn a new word...then you start hearing it more and more. It makes me wonder how many words I tune out if I don't understand them!

Yeah, I've had that before.. In fact yesterday I was talking to my neighbour about fried courgette flowers, and then looked down at the magazine she'd given me to read, and lo and behold (what a strange expression) on the open page there was a recipe for fried courgette flowers. Most odd.
Death is simply a shedding of the physical body like the butterfly shedding its cocoon. It is a transition to a higher state of consciousness where you continue to perceive, to understand, to laugh, and to be able to grow.

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
Chalk it up to amnesia or having a senior moment. I'd bet you've heard that song before and it was bouncing around your synapses.
The dogma lives loudly within me.

Cheers
I remember hearing that as a kid.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
