Mmmmmmm, pie!

You here? Good. Have a seat. I want to talk to you about something... I've been thinking a lot lately... a LOT.... about us, my internet family... we went for a long time being a fairly happy go lucky bunch, and we spent our time fleshing out our part in things here, making friends, all that good stuff. But recently we have had more and more of our members experiencing not just little disappointments and normal life challenges, but serious, life changing tragedies. Peggy. Chris. Rainman. Apple. Several years ago, me. Others that I'm either not remembering right now (I apologize!!) and others who chose to just not talk about it. I spent a good portion of a whole day this weekend wondering if I was about to be told I had another life threatening challenge to face. Lucky for me, I don't. But as is the custom among the fine people of this forum, people lined up to send me good wishes, and express their concern. And it was, as always, genuine. I appreciated every single response.. but felt a little ashamed to "hog" attention over something that turned out to be nothing. So while this message is to everyone, it is especially addressed to those of you who for whatever reason have decided you don't like me. Life is short, people. Yeah, we can fight and argue, call each other names, get in the mud..... but as for me, once it's over, I would give you the shirt off my back. I don't hold grudges normally, and believe it or not, rarely actually get mad over things said here, by anyone. Pardon me for rambling.... but earlier in the week I went to Nashville to bury an old friend. I saw other old friends that I hadn't seen in ages, listened as they told me of others we knew and loved who had gone on already, all a very profound and deeply moving experience for me... especially as I considered the fact that the next time I would see many of them again, would be at their own funeral. And I realized that I haven't told my friends here how much I appreciate and love you - each and every one of you. And since life is short, I need to make sure I've told you that, before I end up failing in my relationships with you the way I failed in my relationships to them. So here it is: no matter how mad you get at me, no matter how much you'd like to wring my neck, no matter what I say to you - I am your friend, and I am glad I know you. I would turn right around and do anything you asked of me. I'm not saying I'm "turning over a new leaf" - I'll still be who I am, because it's who I am. I got through life by making doors, not asking where doors are. I don't listen to negatives. I expect everyone around me to do the same thing. I am demanding. I am an overpowering presence, a wall moving toward my goal, and whatever is in front of me will either join me, get out of my way, or get run over. But at the same time, I'm just a teddy bear. Really. I don't "hate liberals". I hate liberalism. I don't "hate democrats". I hate what the democrat party stands for. If it makes you feel any better, I don't like what the current republican party stands for, either. I don't "hate homosexuals". I just don't like the radical "gay agenda". I'm smart enough to know that many homosexuals don't really like much of it either. It may come as a surprise to a few of the homosexuals here (not Kenny though, he understands) but I have several close friends who are gay. I tell them the same thing I say here. And they know that I love them, and wish them no harm. It helps if you understand that sarcasm as humor is an almost reflex action on my part.. can't help it.. So to wrap this novel up - please accept this humble attempt to polish a few rough edges, and communicate my true feelings to all of you. Life is too short to spend it carrying grudges, and I hope this goes a little way in helping the few of you who carry one toward me to repair that. As for me, I don't hold grudges. I just get it out right then and there.... ![]() For those of you who *don't* have a grudge, I send you my love and respect as well, and may we enjoy many, many years of friendship and communion. Life is short. Friends are few. Cherish those you have. And every single one of you I consider a friend. I hope you do me as well, and if not, I hope this will give you a little more insight into who I am, and help mend those fences.. Thank you for sitting through that mess. I'm still having some rather emotional moments this week... but I mean everything I wrote. I love you all. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool. I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss! - Cecil Lewis

U alright. I don't care what anyone else says. Hell, I don't even care what u say most times. I don't want to hang out with people who are JUST LIKE ME. Ugh. We'd have a heck of a time out on the town. And I am damn glad it wasn't anything more serious. |
