Opti, I've dreamt of doing this almost my entire life, so now at 57 I finally get to do it. Well, we did a southern trip to the Grand Canyon 3 years ago, so I should amend my statement to say I finally get to do *all* of it!

Unfortunately, we'll be doing it this time in the hybrid Civic instead of the SUV thanks to gas prices. It won't be as comfortable but it will be gentler on the wallet.

I'm seriously planning a west coast move a year from now, and one of the things I'm most excited about is the cross-country trip to get there. People complain about Americans who never vacation out of their country, but in a small way, I can't blame those Americans. . . there is just so much to see here.

Lunch sounds just fine. My office is right on I-5 so it will be easy to meet! Traveling in a small car has other benefits - no temptation to do any camping. It will be great to meet you both.
