HOLY CARP!!!
We went to the same play in the city tonight. He said he would be the guy in the balcony with a beard, and sure enough, I found him.

We met at intermission.

He and his wife are lovely.

Depressing play, I have to say, although well done.

Good to have met you, Al.

Wonderful! And I'm sure he was thrilled to meet you too, R2... I know I would be! ^_^
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Al is probably in bed now, feeling hopeless. That play was rough on the emotions. I may not get out of bed for a week, so if I'm not posting, you'll know why.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Crikey. What did you see?

I and my wife were delighted to meet R2 and her husband tonight. The play ("Rabbit Hole") dealt with the aftermath of a child's accidental death, so it certainly was not something to raise spirits, although I thought it ended on a hopeful note.

I'm only sorry that our meeting was so short. I hope we have another opportunity to get together.

I've heard of this one. I would be hesitant to watch it; the subject matter is so drenched with pathos, apart from the play itself. Reminds me of Hemingway's shortest story: "For sale: baby shoes, never worn."

Meeting people from the forums is always so much fun! I'm hoping to meet quite a few when Improv and I take our trip west in late summer. Which reminds me...we will be going thru Pittsburgh on our way to Cleveland. Maybe we could meet for a coffee?
