I'm getting the red one. Have to Amtrak up to Fairfield this Saturday and drive it back as local dealer doesn't stock it. It gets 70mpg. Yes, it's a scooter and it'll do over 100mph.

SWEET!!

What are the roads like around your area, Rick? They ideal for scooter traffic? Around here I can see it working in certain places.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

That's not the image that comes to mind when I hear Scooter.

Seriously, what makes you choose this over a 500cc bike?

That's a nice looking scooter, Rick!! It has the bike look, not the geek look.

I dunno about cruising 100mph on it, you might keep it down to 90, at least at first.

Rick - that is awesome. When I was in Sorrento, Italy, my friend and I rented scooters just like that to ride down the Amalfi coastal road. It was so much fun and so practical in the cities! Granted that's maybe because half the traffic were scooters and the other half knew to look out for scooters, etc. My point is they are fun to ride, very practical on multiple levels, and I wished more cities in the US had them as the norm, not the exception!

The roads are fine for scootering, especially when I get out in the country and away from traffic. I can't wait to take this baby up into the Sierra's for a camping trip!

I chose a scooter over a motorcycle for both their easier ridability (no shifting), and their fuel economy.

Don't worry, have no plans to push this bike over 100 for a while. Got to break it in and I'm told 60 is the limit for a while.

I also preferred the blue one, (nice ride OT!) but it's impossible to find. No dealer in California has one right now. Anyways, the red will stand out more and make me more visible, which is a good thing.

Aprilia is now owned by Piaggio, who also makes Vespa and Piaggio. Nobody builds scooters better than the Guidos. Like 89th said, they dominate the streets of Italy.

Yes ago I had a black Vespa similar to this one:

It was a lot of fun to drive it! And much more relaxing than motorcycle, too.

Rick, that looks awesome. If I had somewhere to store it, I'd consider getting a scooter.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Jon, how about your roof?

Cool scooter, Rick. Didn't you once have an electric bicycle? I think at 100mph you would have a fair risk of blowing off.

Be safe! Have fun!

OT,
That is a gorgeous beemer. Makes me jealous.

Keep seeing people in town on scooters. Once again, something is going on and I don't know what it is. Does that make me Mr. Jones.

That red scooter is cool looking.
