The best part of that video is when she screams, WHY DID YOU LET ME CUT MY HAIR? |

What made it so funny was that her hair really was bad (too cutsie). Also when she mumbled, "It's okay, I've wanted shorter hair anyway." |

Do women really get nervous on their wedding day? |

Holy doodle. If the groom only knew what he was getting in to. :ph43r: I wonder how many years it'll be before she can laugh about this. The girlfriends (or ex-girlfriends as the case may be) will get a lot of mileage out of this. Not sure I could keep it together if I was in the bridal party.

That was beyond nervous. That was all brain cells have left the building. She could've just jumped in the shower and washed the silliness out of her hair, and started over. |

I think some women do, absolutely. Many have it put into their heads that it's the most important moment of their entire lives. While some aren't that bad, many others fantasize about their wedding day for years and years and years before they're even engaged. Which, if you consider the current divorce rate, is really ridiculous. |

At least she's very likely to get a re-try on the whole wedding day thing in the not too distant future... |

Yeah, there's generally some sort of melt down at some point. This is why the maid of honour needs to have champagne at the ready; that's an essential part of the job. Some women put so much pressure on themselves, thinking everything has to be PERFECT, and that sense of perfection gets pretty distorted sometimes. The hair thing is probably the craziest. So much fuss about getting it done (there's usually a trial run days earlier), and it's often, like in this case, pretty goofy and artificial looking. |

And if we're honest, we've all had something go wrong that we over-reacted to and made it much worse. I can totally relate to her urge to just cut off her hair. disclaimer -- I was a very relaxed bride and husband only sleeps on the couch when he falls asleep watching late-nights sports programs. |

Okay, this made me curious...how many of you are more visually oriented at the keyboard, and how many play more by 'feel' It doesn't do me any good at all to look at the keys except to make sure I'm in the right place at the beginning, because I can't memorize ANYTHING...not two freakin' measures. I have to look at the score. Looking back and forth just means I get lost in the score and on the piano. So...I play by feel almost completely. I *wish* I could figure out how to make my brain retain piano music. I've tried everything, including writing out the score on manuscript paper. No joy. I can memorize operas, just not piano music. |

Eh, for me it's a combination of a couple of different things. I don't know how to describe the visual part of it, other than to say the keys look different to me within the context of certain pieces. Like the keys I'm supposed to hit stand out, only they don't really. I dunno, I can just see what I'm supposed to do. And I try to use my ears to let me know when I've screwed up but I'm hopelessly tone deaf. My fingers never lie to me, though. Provided I learned the piece correctly my fingers would tell me I screwed up by feel of the keys even if my ears were turned off. |

I do whatever my teacher says, out of a fear of failure. Just don't wrap the keys in Saran wrap. |

wow...ears turned off is something I can't even imagine! For me, the playing is totally integrated with what I hear. That's really interesting, Aqua. FOr me, the sight of my fingers on the keys is so foreign as to be meaningless...I just don't look enough to understand what I'm seeing, I think. It's weird. |

I have always played visually and aurally...with a healthy dose of feel for sight reading. Playing without looking at your hands IS important, I just have my own style of glancing down for big moves and some stride patterns. I am opposite from Diva Deb in that my mind works on aural memory very well. I begin to hear the music as I first begin reading from a score and it's like a door opening and sunlight spilling through as I can begin to hear what it is supposed to sound like. A few play throughs and I find myself not even needing the music...It is like like I am singing it with my fingers. Another thing I do is pick songs out of radio, recordings, etc and play by ear without the score. This has always been my style. I can hear a song and just sit down and with minimal effort just do it. This pisses people off so do not take it as bragging...just explaing how it works for me. But I have been playing forever it seems, it's my job now so I get hammered all day with new music and challenges. I probably log 4-6 hours a day between practicing and performing. So many people do not relate well to my "inner game" of music because they are hobbyists. |
