As you may or may not have noticed, CNN has these t-shirt icons beside certain headlines.

The icons are a link where you can buy a damn t-shirt with this particular headline on it.

You have to be freaking kidding me.

For one, yeah, let's make some extra profit off of other people's misfortune. Which is what the news is anyway, I guess. Making a public spectacle of something. I just didn't think they'd be this low about it.

For two, it's like they're acknowledging how sh!tty they are! "Buy a t-shirt with this crazy ass headline on it, look how crazy!"

Thirdly, it's pretty freaking sad they're trying to make money this way. For a whole lot of other reasons.

I mean...you know me. I don't mind consumerism nearly as much as you do, so you know if I'm outraged by this, then it *must* be bad! I mean...imagine if you were the driver hit in the face! :cursing:

It gets better with their Shirt FAQ. I went there for some answers but apparently "Are you ****ing kidding me" is not a frequently asked question. They did tell me this, however.

To get your own CNN Shirt please visit CNN.com. In the latest news section you will see a series of headlines with little t-shirt icons next to them. Click the icon that accompanies your desired headline. You will then be able to preview your shirt and proceed to checkout.

Quote:

When you purchase T-shirts from the CNN Shirt store, you will see "Share on Facebook" links that accompany all purchased headlines on your receipt page. When you click on the share button, the headline you purchased shows up in your news and minifeed.

Please upload any photos of you wearing a CNN Shirt to www.ireport.com/tshirt. Your photo will be considered for future contests and our CNN Shirt photo archive.

I hate the news so much you have no idea.

I sent them an email, asking whose idea it was, and what they were thinking when they pitched the idea.

Seriously, though, is this something people like to do? Tee shirt with headline? I suppose if you picked the right one it could be funny, but unfortunately people will probably pick ones of scandals and carnage.

Who knows, maybe they make a bunch of $$$ everytime a nat'l championship game ends.

To me it proves CNN gives no sh!t about journalistic integrity or journalistic anything, and just wants to make money like any other business.

Fair reporting? Informing the public? GMAFB.

I guarantee this scheme was thrown out during a marketing meeting at CNN and people thought "Cool! This is kinda like a viral inside-joke web 2.0 type of idea! Great idea! Yachts all around!"

I'm sending this to my friend Matt (Drudge) - hopefully he can link to the story and thus create the (I hope) negative reaction from it.

I'd buy a damn shirt if it featured a headline about CNN being condemned for making these damn shirts.

I would have boycotted CNN by now if I actually watched it.
Death is simply a shedding of the physical body like the butterfly shedding its cocoon. It is a transition to a higher state of consciousness where you continue to perceive, to understand, to laugh, and to be able to grow.
