The weather here demands that one be outside, if possible. It's beautiful.

Who is in?

Here are your questions to start conversation:

What was the highlight of your week?
Do you suspect you were someone else in a prior life, and if so, who?

____________________________________________________________

I'll go first.

I had a friend visit from out of town unexpectedly last night. I got a sitter and went to the South Side and had a salad and some beers. The weather was so nice, the area was hoppin'. We made plans to take a joint vacation with this friend and his family, we all get along so well. Was very nice.

As for a prior life, I think I was alive as a young woman in the 20's.

Oh man, pour a drink for me. I'm in. Let's see - highlight of my week was probably yesterday, driving down to a nice nursery in the Skagit valley for the first plant buying trip of they year. I bought a boatload of sempervivum. Then out for a nice lunch at my favorite little shack called "The Farm to Market Bakery".

Former life? I have a hard enough time trying to figure out who I am in this one.

Plants sound beautiful.

I am also working on an article about an opera singer. A topic that I like.

The highlight of my week, was ironically, getting highlights in my hair to cover the grey, and getting a cut. I feel younger and ready for spring now.

In my former life, I think I was a wealthy, upper class woman in the 19th century, possibly French.

That being said, I'd like a cold glass of champagne, please.

This week's highlight: Wednesday's concert. It was a concert organised by composition students of the Music Academy of Basel (where I study). Everyone was free to compose anything without any restrictions, as long as it had something to do with the theme "Shakespeare and Cervantes", and you had to find your own musicians. So I wrote a setting of Shakespeare's sonnet no. 18 for mezzosoprano, percussion and piano. I found myself a mezzosoprano and a percussionist (I played the piano part myself) and we played it at the concert. Apart from some wrong notes of mine, it went really well (I was less nervous than I thought I would be) and was apparently well liked by the audience. I'll get a recording as soon as they're done with post-processing, and I'll post it here (as I promised a while ago). Hearing one's own music actually played is a quite wonderful experience, so this is clearly a highlight for me.

As for the second question, I don't believe in reincarnation, so I don't think I used to be someone else.

Work, I think, because the place has run pretty well. When I can make things go a bit smoother, my mopping crew does a better job. My mopping crew does a better job, and maybe the docs do a better job. If the docs do a better job...well, you know the rest.

I look forward to the recording...and I'd still like to get a look at the score if that is possible. And any other solo vocal works in your catalogue.

My week was one big highlight. My daughter signed her national letter of intent and they wrote a nice article in the newspaper here in smalltown USA which came out Wed. The review sheets on the shows came back raves and I was nominated for a Starlight Theatre Blue Star award for best musical direction. Of course, all of that excitement is tempered by the cloud I put over my own head when I committed to play that summer ballet intensive for guys who might give me seizures.

Past life? pshaw

I'll have what the lovely young Sue with the cute new do is having, R2...I've been very good the last few weeks. I'm ready to get...you know

Highlight?

At work today. Had a 30 year old gal with a large ovarian mass (about 3 1/2 inches). Gyne put a laparoscope in, and said "Oh Sh!t," this looks bad. He spent about 3 hours getting it out through the 'scope to avoid opening her up. Got the sucker out and sent it off to pathology.

Benign.

She woke up smiling: "Are you guys done already? Wow, what a great nap."

Little does she (or will she ever) know.

Past life?

I'll let you know when I'm done with this one.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Hectic week - my first full meeting as president of the neighborhood recreation association board. We maintain and run the grounds, the lakefront on our property, the pool, tennis courts and clubhouse and three large ponds. Very eye-opening in that the fiscal irresponsibility of the last year is staggering. Formulated a strategy to get us back to solvency, started putting it in place. I am really going to piss some people off. But then, that's the fun part of the job.

In a past life? I don't know, but I believe it took place around Lynchburg VA. I have never felt such an immediate kinship to a place in my life - and it isn't because the area is so wonderful. Perhaps I was a Civil War general - probably went around pissing people off then too.

The highlight of my week was monday. All the neighborhood kids were playing in our front yard, the moms were gossiping, and much to the our mixed horror and amusement the kids started running through our sprinkler. It was fun to see.

I think I may have been a cat in a former life. I've always wanted a tail. That being said, please bring me something creamy - Baileys?

Is there a reason that you would buy it rather than rent it - or is that not done over here?

Buying was the only option. But the price was reasonable.

Opps, got the wrong patio, R2. The wife and I went to Mad Mex and drank good beer at happy hour prices.

Best thing this week was getting the lawn tractor running for another year (the beast is 30 years old).

If I had a previous life, I was probably an Irish navvy come over to dig canals in England.

Such interesting things you people do during the week. Congrats again, MS.

He surprised me with CHOCOLATE!
