Nothing different.

Every day is Earth day.

What other planet do you inhabit?

Didn't even know that it's Earth Day.

But that's OK, because I drive a hybrid.

Except for math this morning, everything we did had Earth Day ties. Since I'm teaching Natural Resources right now in Geography, and my teaching partner is doing a similar unit in science, we connected it all to open responses in language. So I showed the "Running the Numbers" video I made of the Chris Jordan images a while back and the kids did a reponse. And of course, we showed Human Footprint. We'll continue this week making connections to the videos in Language. I figure teaching my kids about how to do a little bit, and how much impact a collection of people can have, is probably the best thing I can do.

As far as myself, I've been making an effort to keep my classroom lights off now that it's sunny. I need to start recycling though. I don't have recycling in my building, and there's no central drop off point because we're all supposed to have pick up. I really need to get a bin and then cart it across the street on recycling day. I also have switched to using reuseable bags rather than getting plastic at the grocery. :)

Oh yeah! I forgot that I paid my utility bill!

I think I will celebrate Earth Day by going out and smoking a big fat cigar!

Hand Rolled from the Dominican Republic of course!

HOLY CARP!!!
1. I walked to the food store instead of driving my hybrid
2. I decided to eat less beef since it is the protein source with the largest carbon footprint
3. I bought a big bag of pinto beans to replace some of the meat (bypassing up canned beans)
4. I found out I could soak my new pinto beans overnight to reduce the cooking energy needed
5. I hung my clothes to dry instead of using my electric dryer

I'm such an eco-angel. Posted Image

Every day is earth day. What other planet's day would you be talking about personally experiencing. What earth days would you say could be excluded from your experience betweeen your birth and death.

Every earth day is earth day.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

I didn't do anything special, except think back about that time I planted a tree in 7th grade.

I guess I'm still in debt though since I've cut down more trees than I've planted. :whome:

I got up, ate some breakfast, took a shower, went to work, came home, ate dinner, went for an evening walk around the neighborhood with Kassandre, came home, ate some more, get online, watched some tv with Kassandre, need to get some sleep to be back at work again by 11:00am. Pretty much an ordinary day.
