1.25. Fluent in English, both written and spoken, and just enough Spanish to get by with the Mexicans who come in at work. I would love to be fluent in Spanish someday, though. |

German, French and English. I also learnt some Latin once. I forgot a lot of it, but I can still understand simple texts. Currently, I'm trying to teach myself some Japanese. (That makes almost four, I think.) |

Used to be three. Lithuanian was my first language. English German Haven't used two of them for more that 20 years, so I consider them pretty well lost. You can figure out which two.

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!

Only English fluently. Reading comprehension (with a dictionary at times) in Latin, Italian, Spanish and French, Greek is very rusty. I hate how quickly languages are lost -- use it or lose it! |

Yeah but fortunately, if you decide to pick it back up at some point, it's a whole lot easier and quicker than your first time. |

English and ASL (american sign language) although I do s.e.e. (sign exact english) or fingerspell everything, depending who I'm dealing with. Hearing impaired people from families who are not deaf communicate differently. |

Yeah, me too. I find it comes in handy so often when travelling. Besides English, I can decipher most French (written) and put a sentence together like Riley said, but I can't follow native French speakers. They..........need........to.......talk..........slower. A smattering of Spanish, and that's about it. Spoke German as a kid, but have forgotten most of it.I need to travel more and work on my languages.

I can listen in English and French. I can sing in those languages plus Italian, German, Russian, and Spanish with good diction and idiomatic understanding. I have a hard time writing in anything but English, and though I can usually think fast enough when I'm listening to someone speak, I am a faltering, stuttering grammar disaster when responding. I used to be a lot better than I am now. If I could travel as much I did prior to making babies, I'd probably still be pretty good, especially the languages in which I have sung enough to have quite a bit of vocabulary. That would be a wonderful facility to have. When I was a kid, my dad taught me some Cherokee. All I remember now is that the word for sun and moon is the same word and then you add the word for 'day' or 'night'...so it's like 'day sun' and 'night sun'. Weird thing to remember. |
