You could say that about pretty much anything. DVD's inevitabley get scratched yet people still keep them in cases. Yes shoes will suffer the wear and tear of living, but you can certainly protect them so they last longer. x |

I found it! MP, you weren't around back in 2003 but here we talked of passions of our past. I fessed up to my shoe obsession. I also queried how many guys out there had a thing for collecting CDs. People love different things. No one should judge. Yet sometimes it's hard to understand why people are so passionate about their 'things'. |

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool. I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss! - Cecil Lewis | |

Nah, this is much bigger then men being different from women. We are all are insecure and it manifests itself in being threatened by diverse views. We clump into groups of like-minded people. The others become wrong. I believe we are all wired this way because long ago it served an evolutionary purpose. Today it would serve us well to adjust to diversity. Shoes, religion, politics, use of credit, abortion, diamonds, global warming, or just about any subject you can think of can serve to activate our BE LIKE ME OR ELSE response. I think respecting diversity (no matter what) is an honorable goal. |

Oh, I dunno, I heard it somewhere I think.
In general I am not a fan of vain people. They usually give me problems.
I'd reference something about "idle hands" but you're probably tired of Bible quotes about now. Generally speaking yet again, there is not much worth in things that come easy. But, things that are difficult and require effort probably have some kind of inherent worth in them. It's still my opinion that "because it feels good" is not a justification for anything. |

Those are great photographs! Y'all...if you ever see a pair of size 6.5 US (37 Euro, 4 UK) irridescent snakeskin pumps with about a 3.5-4 inch stiletto heel and very low vamp, let me know. I would soooooo love to replace my stolen shoes. That pair alone could have seen me through every formal event for the rest of my danged life. Good grief, they were so gorgeous. I got the money from the insurance company and replaced the black shoes and a couple of evening gowns, my cosmetics and stuff...but I never found the snakeskin pumps again (sniff) |

Saving up for my next pair. They're way past season so will be impossible to find but they are stunning. And one of very few shoes to actually push past 5 inchs in the heel (not many shoes do that without a wedged sole!!!)![]() (hey, a girl can dream )x |

Well, computerstuffs is a bad example because you can back them up digitally. For about 80 cents you can make a copy of your DVD that's just as good as the one you bought in the store for 15 dollars. (Actually, you can skip the middle man and just DIY it for 80 cents total, but I don't endorse such things because the MPAA frowns upon them.) You're right though, most other things will eventually get messed up. |

Croc and snakeskin is one of CL's biggest tends. A few years ago, practically his whole winter collection was croc. If you have a hunt about on ebay (but watch for fakes!!! ), neiman marcus, net a porter and saks' websites, you should get some pretty spot on results (don't know about the price tho )x |

See I couldn't do that, because in my mind the most appropriate thing to do in that situation would be to beat the person senseless with their own shoe, and then throw it onto a nearby roof or something. What to do when those are the items you're trying to get back?? |

I LOVE wearing heels. I daily wear 2-3" heels to work, and on the occassional day, I wear 4" (usually boots, though - I don't feel sturdy enough in 4" pumps to be as active as I am when I teach!) Alas, I think those days are numbered. I don't sit down during the day, normally, so wearing heels (no matter how "comfy" they are) all day every day just doesn't cut it. I wore a pair of cute little flats the other day. I bought them to wear with a skirt that I bought that might look a bit too dressy for work if I wore heels (but it looks great with flats!) and my kids were shocked because many of them were suddenly taller than me. I wear flats so rarely, that it was REALLY noticeable. And, yes, I paid about $100 for a pair of flats that most men would think were slippers, if they saw them lying around. ![]() I have no problem paying a couple hundred dollars for a pair of boots, because I LIVE in boots all winter (one pair for outside, and a few pairs for my indoor school shoes). I usually find $300 boots on sale, because I just can't justify paying that. And I don't take as good care of my shoes as Deb. I just don't think I'd pay $800 for a pair of heels. I can't wear them to do my job (I don't think Deb would wear her shoes while teaching in an art class with 25 14-year olds PAINTING!) and I don't go out often enough to justify it. I'm not terribly fond of the style MP bought (sorry, MP - to each her own), but I adore the ones I posted. I'd never buy them, though, as they're not practical for my life. Now, if I were made of money.... |

Bloody hell. What better justification is there? Don't they teach you people anything nowadays? I wouldn't shell out stupid money on a pair of shoes, obviously, but that's because I'm a bloke with his head screwed on. I would however fork out silly money for all kinds of other stuff. I mean, $150 on a bottle of booze might sound a bit silly if you still believe that Budweiser is a good choice with red meat, and let's face it, the old drink's not going to last nearly as long as those clod-hoppers referenced earlier. |

When it comes to spirits, D'Oh, I only go for the very best. I'm sorry, but it's just that I was brought up to always believe that one should have high standards for this sort of thing. If that makes me a snob so be it.
