HOLY CARP!!!
|
This hummingbird crashed into a window, and was nearly finished off by our very bad cat, but we rescued him and left him (supervised <_< ) on top of the barbeque. Finally started moving a bit after about 10 min, then flew off, perched on a tree for another few minutes, then zoomed off.![]() ![]() close up of her beak; couldn't tell if it was broken, or what that blob was ![]() Amazing creatures, and it was cool to be able to see the gorget up so close. |

Even though we decided to get a cat instead of a bird, I still think birds are amazing. I'm glad everything turned out OK! Thank you. It's very beautiful and I've never seen one up close. ![]() |

tres cool. i'm amazed at birds' ability to recuperate after those crashes. i rarely clean my picture window (only for company) because the silly birds don't see it. good save! |

Ran out of coal/propane for the barbeque, eh? Well, at least you've got a few good pictures. |

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead

I think the drops are humming bird nectar (red colored sugar water). That red color is a giveaway. |

Good job, Sue. We get lots of those in our backyard every year, I will have to put our feeder out soon. I chased a cat away from a bunny today.

I just made my first batch of sugar water yesterday. Our visitors should be arriving quite soon. Actually they're probably already here. last year I remember seeing one hovering at our window before we had put out the feeder. It must have been one of the previous year's regulars and it seemed to be scolding us for the delay. |

? drops? Are you talking about the red feathers on her neck? Those aren't drops, those are the bits that flash in the sunshine. And I don't know of anyone who puts red food colouring in their hummingbird solution anymore. No need, no good. |
