I went to a wine tasting this morning. It was very interesting. We tasted five different sparkling wines from the Val de Loire. I took lots of notes and now I'm writing them up, which isn't so fun as drinking the wine. We also had a couple of canapés with two of the wines and it was amazing how the strawberries exactly matched and enhanced the rosé and the demi-sec, and the prawns matched the Cremant. I don't often pay much attention to food and wine matches but I may try harder from now on. |

It was part of a month of "open workplaces" in Angers (Loire Valley) where you can visit the companies which take part and see how they function, for a couple of euros a time. I wanted to go to the Cointreau factory to see behind the scenes as well but I didn't get round to that one. |

Gosh, it sounds so cultured!! My mam and dad have a place on the south west coast, near Bordeaux and there is a MASSIVE vineyard right beside it. Every time i go, it always makes me wish i knew more about wine. x |

Amazing - you should just go and meander around wine tasting for a day. Or if you're in wine country take a bike. There's no obligation to buy anything when you taste, and you'll need to discover the best viticulteur for you, so start looking! |

Just finishing first year. ![]() I had the most scrumptious red last night. It was a 2006 Burgundy. It was a little heavy but very plummy. Yummy. x |
