HOLY CARP!!!
|
I've met about 10 people from the various forums now, and it's very different from "talking" with people online. You can't see people, hear people, "feel" their presence, interact via gestures/expressions, etc when they're just a bunch of pixels on a forum. Pictures are okay, but they aren't the real thing. For me, what I am most curious about is voices. When I read something someone has written, I wonder what their voice sounds like. After I've met somebody, when I later read their posts, I sometimes read the posts in that person's voice. I wish I could do that for everyone... instead it's usually just this bland "thinking voice" that I always think with for everything, though sometimes I try and make up voices for different people based on what I think their accents might be like, etc. Maybe it's because I'm a musician, so I identify people through sound. I think if I didn't know anything physical about anybody here, and I could only know one aspect, I'd be curious to hear their voice -- not how tall they are, not what color they are, not how they move their hands when they talk... How about you? What are you most curious about, or do you just not think about any of this? |

Perhaps all of the hostilities would be healed and we could have a good ol' fashioned revival:
