Frank_W, I respect the fact that you agree with Sarah on her view of CrashTest. My question to you is: Do you believe this excuses Larry's lying to every one about having created the "Crash Test" sockpuppet and trying to cause trouble for CrashTest? Is this an action you condone? |

Nope, it doesn't excuse him and I don't condone what Larry did. (Though in all honesty I'm not really following the issue much.) However, since this is directed at Crash I don't much care. |

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Nah, you were telling Peggy, "If you don't stand up for me I won't stand up for you." Maintaining two lists of names (good guys and bad guys) in your head is gang mentality. It is a low-level way to live. It substitutes fear and protection-in-numbers for self esteem. Peggy had the self esteem to point out that what you did was wrong. Your fellow gang members (you know who you are) would never do this because they operate on the Us vs. Them gang mentality. IOW Loyalty. Anything bad a member of the gang does gets overlooked. Loyalty trumps all. Loyalty blinds. |

I think it's the other way around, Kenny. People are sometimes blinded into loyalty, but loyalty is a fine attribute, not at all universally blind. I'd like to see the word, and the concept behind it, viewed as a separate concept than the sort of pied piper thing you're talking about. Blind loyalty is not really the same thing as noble loyalty through thick and thin. It's not the loyalty that is at fault, but an individual's motives in expressing that loyalty. True relationship loyalty is a very open-eyed integrity; an I love you warts and all kind of devotion. Clear-eyed loyalty is beautiful. Blind loyalty is self-deception. |

I don't agree with making a harassing sock puppet, and yes, I think it crossed the line, but I do understand the frustration that served as the motive behind it. It is interesting that this has become such a big deal, when The Grim Reaper was allowed to constantly vomit his/her incendiary attacks for months, before people began to collectively speak up. It tells me more about the double standard that people claim to abhor.
