Hehe - made me chuckle I think you really suit short hair Dol because you have a great bone structure (do you still have it red? Or are you changing the colour completely?) x |

Well, right now it's a dark red with black low lights. Previous to that it was "Deepest Plum" with black low lights. I'm thinking of going a really dark chocolate brown with red highlights. We shall see.

Dol, can you post a pic of yourself here? Or tell me what page you're on in the picture thread, I don't feel like navigating through all 80something to remember what you look like. If I recall, you had high cheekbones. If so this do will definitely work on you. The other thing to consider is the thickness/type of hair you have and (believe it or not) your ears. If you have very thick hair be prepared to have it cut every 4 weeks since the moment it starts growing out from this length it will puff up. I have had my hair cut short from long more than anyone I know, every year and a hlaf or so I get it cut to varying degrees of short. Whatever you do, make sure you know and like the stylist you are using and that they are versatile with their cuts. Too many of them only know how to do a set number of styles and have no idea when you bring them something new. I only recently found the first person to know how to deal with my overly thick hair and she gave me the best cut yet (long in front, short in back). Also, take the photos with you. I think women with high cheekbones look much better with short hair than long hair. If I remember you correctly, it is going to look beautiful on you. |

A fairly recent (October) picture of me. I was quite a ways into the drink at this point. ![]() ![]() It's a wee bit longer now - I've been trying to find something new to do to it. And, like you, I have REALLY thick hair. 4 weeks is actually too long between cuts for me, though I use about 8 million products depending on how far into a cut I am to try to make it to 4.

I hear ya, sistah! ![]() Well, getting the Natalie Portman do is not too far from what you have now, and with your face, which is simmilar in shape to hers, you will probably look great. I found I needed to wear more makeup with really short hair to make me look more feminine, especially since my face has some rather manly features (I always joke I'm the female version of my dad, to which he replies that he makes a good looking woman :D) Clearly, you don't have that problem, your face is so dainty!!! The growing it out part was a disaster for me once I had it cut that short. I have some pretty hideous photos I could show, but won't. One of the women I whose short hair I always loved (and who seems to have it thick like us) is Helena Christensen. I modeled my do's after hers for a while. Got sick of that though, and now I have the Victoria Beckham do. The stylist had to remove about half a head of hair to get it to work properly, but I am really happy as it requires no hair gunk and no blow-drying. It is the first time I like my hair (and what I look like) since getting pregnant! I say give it a whirl, it's only hair, it grows back! Good luck! |

I agree completely, Ax. Heck, she looks fantastic with her current haircut! But I can relate to the desire to want to try something more extreme. |

So I've been hearing. Doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun Hope your power stays on at least!I guess you don't want to hear about my forsythia bush that's starting to bloom, huh. It's funny how often we here in lotus land compare our weather to TO's. "Gosh, this rain is getting depressing, isn't it?", is often followed up with, "Yeah, but have you heard what's happening in Toronto!" |
