Do you collect things?

Apple, those are beautiful! Ditto to Plays on the spoons... :thumb:

I actually collect hand-blown Egyptian perfume bottles. I picked up a couple when I was in the Middle East as gifts, and actually got to watch some being made at a glassblower's shop. I've only got five or six, but I collect them one at a time, whenever I find one that I like.

Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:

Egyptian perfume bottles. Sure Frank. I've heard them called a lot of things but that's a new one on me.

 Just kidding, man. They do look pretty cool!
I cite irreconcilable differences.

I don't really collect anything.

Collections tend to take over the house.

BTW we do collect small vases.

We have a tradition of finding them at antique or thrift stores (they cannot be new) and giving them for birthdays, etc.

That's cool. I love things like that. What a great idea to give them as gifts; makes for guilt free collecting. And I can imagine pairing the vase with the recipient.

As long as they aren't urns. For ashes. :o :hide:

"Sorry, Grandpa... You're being gift-wrapped and given to the Collins family, this year. Bon voyage and Merry Christmas!!"

Apple, when I see little pianos in antique stores, I think of you. Plays - those spoons are GORGEOUS!

I collect several things. Glass insulators (you know the ones from telephone poles), old frames, rhinestone pins, and purses.

My absolute FAVORITE thing to do is to go to the thrift stores (goodwill, salvation army). Yesterday I found a nice leather Paolo Gucci purse in excellent condition. I put them on a shelf in my closet. (so dumb, I know)

I don't actually collect anything seriously, but I do have a few blue glass vases. I put them by a window so the sun can shine through them. Blue glass anything always catches my eye.

Oh, and I have a little collection of hot wheels vws.

Frank, those bottles are beautiful!

I love glass work. The blue bottles sound beautiful. The perfume bottles are exotic and unusual... (They were hell to get back to the United States, too... I was sure they were going to be shattered to dust...)

Collections tend to take over the house.

I also theorize you can't really have two collectors in the same house, without getting majorly taken over.

Yep. IMO, one of the truly great artists of the 20th cent.

Other than books - more for my classroom than me these days - I'm not currently collecting anything. I used to collect antique shoes. These days, my music collection is probably the one I spend time on. I've become rather anal about how everything is tagged and categorized.

Free Rider - I used to quilt, and have posted pics here of some of my stuff in the past. I'd love to see yours!

I keep movie/event tickets, though I wouldn't call it collecting. I have probably 50 movie tickets dating back to 2005, as well as some sporting event tickets.

I still have my Beanie Babies. I also collect hats, keyrings and pins. And, of course, anything Elton John related.

In WoW, I'm trying to collect 5,000 gold for my epic flying mount training. :nerd: :sword:

I have one of the biggest Magic collections in the world - almost an entire PSA Alpha graded set, and a lot of the earlier sets.

These are some Alpha PSA stuff, smaller cards just so you know how they look like:

Well I collect empty wine bottles but only to fill them up again when I go wine shopping. I'm sure there must be something else but I can't think of anything.
Death is simply a shedding of the physical body like the butterfly shedding its cocoon. It is a transition to a higher state of consciousness where you continue to perceive, to understand, to laugh, and to be able to grow.
