You did insult her, whether you'd like to hide behind the semantics of legalism, or not. Was Larry wrong about who was giving his mother an award? Sure was. Now, tell me what difference that made in your life. You don't know the lady, have never met her, and she does not participate in these fora, so what you know about her comes from what her son writes. In this case, what he wrote was wrong on some aspects of the facts, but you assumed it was a malicious misrepresentation rather than an honest mistake. Explain to me why you just didn't take a break from putting everything people say under a microscope, and just be happy the lady was being honored, or just ignore an opportunity for once? Nah, you had your sword out, and as long as the chosen one got skewered to Hell with anybody's feelings. So yes, I think you indirectly insulted her. Look at the bright side...you can talk about me all you want, but if you'd taken a shot at my Mom - even indirectly -you'd have been looking at me face-to-face within a short period of time. And I promise you, it wouldn't have been a pleasant experience. So...a word of advice...those of us who participate here are fair game. We know the rules going in, and it can certainly get rowdy. But don't ever, ever talk about somebody's mom in a derogatory fashion, even indirectly. I don't know what it's like up in Yankeeland, but down here that's a mortal sin. |
