Mark, these are not the correct figures for Social Security. I stopped wasting my time at 1:30.

OK then! The US Comptroller doesn't know what he's talking about?

They are the correct numbers Daniel.

Just because you are in denial doesn't make it not true.

The $400,000 figure is not "for those two programs". Social Security has its own figures.

Daniel, you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. Mark's figures are correct. And if you weren't such a dimwitted fool you'd understand that privatizing Social Security is one of the smartest things they could do.

Seriously, Larry. Your act is old. You pay no attention to facts and scream abuse at people. Got it. Thanks.

Sigh... they keep forgetting that the US Government is NOT a corporation, the US Government is NOT a household. The US Government can print money and can play with the formula used to compute the CPI -- that means all the debts and obligations can be inflated away.

I can't imagine what basis you have for thinking that.

Interesting, indeed., I'm at 1:15, and he has totally mislead the audience into thinking that Social Security has a 400k per household shortfall. At 1:17 he adds 'those 2 programs' (so of course he means medicare as well) but he hasn't mentioned medicare, he's only mentioned social security, and that all that was on the screen in text.

Could be bad presentation and editing, but I'm going to go with intellectual dishonesty as the more likely cause.

I'll keep watching...

I'm at 1:59. We were just told that we'd need to stash away 59trillion in order to pay for future obligations using interest. What the fcuk? Thats completely nonsensical. Why would we try to pay it out of interest?

Lets say you have a $400 per month car payment.

I could breathlessly tell you you'd have to put away $125,000 in order to pay for that out of interest, but you'd give me a quizzical look and say, 'yes, i suppose, but I could also just give them 400 a month out of my paycheck'.

I'm at 2:11. Now the genius tells me there are no savings for these two programs. That simply is not true. Its now entirely obvious that he doesn't understand the first thing about finance, and I've got 6 minutes left.

Jeez, Mark, the things I do for you ;)

Unfortunately fcukwit won't let Walker talk very much. He prefers to say things like 'we have a 53T deficit', without any qualification. No where has he mentioned a 75 year timeframe. Earlier he mentioned 20 years only.

I do not get the picture of Paul as 'a visionary and intellectual'. Whenever I have heard him he seems to ramble, long on conjecture, short on facts or linear thought. It may be that he is more like Bush - not the best speaker publicly, but much better one on one.

Edit: OOPS! I thought sure this was a Ron Paul video - mea culpa. I like Glen Beck far less. Sad state of affairs when we get our political opinions from entertainers.

I appreciate what Walker is doing on this topic, although he exaggerates a bit and some of his metaphors are overwrought. Its an important topic though, which the political class is essentially ignoring, and the time to fix it is sooner not later.

Unfortunately fcukwits like Glen Beck detract from his effort by piling mounds of bs on top of his important message, making it too easy for people to blow off.

I am not, I repeat NOT a big fan of Beck. I was more interested in this because of the comptrollers comments.

So, don't listen to this government official but listen to that one. Then believe this one but not that one.

Bah! When will all of you wake up to the fact that our government is simply out of control in so many ways and on both sides of the aisle????

Sheesh Mik, You didn't even watch it because you assume I linked a Ron Paul video?

Yeah that's intellectual honesty.

Very graceful, Mark. I assume you did read where I acknowledged and took responsibility for the error.

I hope you confine your overt hostility to those of us you don't see in person.
