I Owe It All To John D'Oh
And I don't think it's a bad thing.

But the ACLU does:

Quote:

The American Civil Liberties Union has fiercely objected to the effort, particularly the sharing of personal data among government agencies. The DHS and other officials say the only way to make sure an ID is safe is to check it against secure government data; critics like the ACLU say that creates a system that is more likely to be infiltrated and have its personal data pilfered.

In its written objection to the law, the ACLU claims REAL ID amounts to the "first-ever national identity card system," which "would irreparably damage the fabric of American life."

And here's who it will cover:

Quote:

Americans born after Dec. 1, 1964, will have to get more secure driver's licenses in the next six years under ambitious post-9/11 security rules to be unveiled Friday by federal officials.
It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010.

Is that not just another way of saying that they support the Gorelick "wall?"

The article doesn't explain why the ACLU claims that. I find it amazing that there is objection to this. I know about the objections some have about an ID being a "poll tax," but, if it's free, what's the problem?

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

They are the ACLU. They are like PETA: They ALWAYS object. They are a little like Muslims, that way: Always outraged over something, and if they can't find anything to be outraged over, well... they'll dig until they do. :rolleyes2:

I'm with the (commie rats) ACLU on this one.

I think the federal government is acting more and more like "the boss of everything" and I don't think that's their role.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy
