Mark, that sounds like fun, and I agree with you wholeheartedly.

I also liked David's last comment very much: "This one picture says more about Barack Obama than any single picture could. As I said many months ago, this man is not sufficiently American to be our president."

Obama does not get it.

Mik, every minute you spend here is one less minute you can spend at Stormfront.

It is silly enough that American voters determine Leader of the Free World (LOTFW) based on whether s/he believes in Creationism/Intelligence Design, whether s/he is pro-life or pro-choice, or whether s/he would support Constitution amendment to ban gay marriage. Now you want to determine LOTFW based on where s/he put his/her hand while the national anthem is playing???

Do ourselves and the rest of the world a favor -- get back to basic competence, the economy, and foreign policy, ok?

(p.s. ... and how good their young wifes and daughters look.)

Thank you Ax for putting this all in perspective.

Whether Obama is the one who could lead this nation better than the other candidates, I don't know, but I do know it IS time for a change, it is not a cliche either.

4 or even 8 more years of the same is going to make this country suffer greatly.

We can achieve peace in the Middle East. Things like this are not impossible. I do give credit to our President for at least trying to bring this about. I just think the olive branch will gets us there over the sword.

But it's a screwed up perspective. I've read as people have minimized the importance of patriotism, and now you're saying we can achieve peace in the middle east with an olive brand better than with the sword. That's ridiculous. It sounds nice, we'd all like for that to be the case, no one wants conflict - but the simple fact is, there is an enemy out there who doesn't want your damned olive branch. They want to kill you. And they see your olive branch as a sign of weakness. They feel utter contempt for you for offering it.

The only thing they understand if force. We need people who value this country enough to sacrifice to keep it. You get that with patriots holding guns, not people who don't understand the importance of patriotism walking around offering olive branches.

It is simplistic thinking that thinks peace will be achieved with the sword.

It is deep thinking that achieves the peace with the olive branch.

We've had 8 years of simplistic thinking.

Let's get real, the ONLY reason we give a sh_t about what's going on there is for the cheap oil that's available. (sorry Israel). If we had spent the last 8 years of our money on getting our country oil nondependent (and not lip servicing it in State of the Unions) instead of trying to keep our cheap oil with the sword, we'd be better off today than we are now.

F_ck, we've got the means to put a man to Mars now, you don't think we can't get in line with alternative energy sources with that kind of know how?

The problem all along was voting these oil barons into office.

You have it ass backwards. The notion that an olive branch achieves peace defies history. Nice pollyanna thinking, though. It'll sound good around a campfire while you're making smores and singing Kumbaya - but it's hardly "deep thinking".

The rest of your post is typical half thought out democrat thinking as well. No "deep thinking" there either, Rick.

Larry, I simply no longer give a sh!t about "peace in the middle east". As far as I am concerned they can just kill each other. When they are done and there is nobody left we can just walk right in and take the damn oil! :D

Seriously though, the north slope of Alaska has enough oil AND natural gas to supply the needs and projected growth of said need of the USA for the next 200 years.

We could easily find an alternative to crude oil over the next 200 years! If we can't then we don't deserve to call us ourselves intelligent.

WHY THE HELL ARE WE BOTHERING WITH THE MIDDLE EAST???

Remember I do not view "the terrorist threat" as anything but a "threat" and a pretty damn weak one at that.

Mark, tell that one to the families of the 2300+ people who died in the Twin Towers....

Are you seriously that unaware of the scope of terrorism around the world, Mark?

So you expect them to stand with their backs to the viewer with the flag two feet in front of them?

Why did you quote Improv's remark and put a smile smiley with it, Daniel? With you it's hard to know what's going through your head - did you just feel like smiling at Improv, or are you happy that patriots are a dying breed?

Actually there are a lot of Hillary supporters there. In fact, they are almost all Hillary supporters.

Really? Who, besides me, Jeffrey, and Bernard? (there may be others, but then most people there don't post about politics).

On the other hand, we've heard negative comments about Hillary from at least: you, kathy, pianojuggler, operatenor, teachum, cindysphynx, even the otherwise-apolitical Mary Anna. (not to mention the overtly conservative or libertarian folks there)
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I agree with Moonbat but I can't speak for his reasoning. For me, I'd be less inclined to vote for them because getting worked up about the anthem/pledge betrays a fundamental irrationality in one's worldview.

Well I believe the Pledge of Allegiance is a relatively new "patriotic" thing to this country (1950's communist scare?), however the National Anthem and the flag are both very important to this country. They represent so many things to be proud of, and so many noble deaths to honor. America is not perfect, but it certainly is a country full of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. IMO, if someone gets tears in their eyes listening to the National Anthem while watching the Stars and Stripes fly with a background of fireworks...I think they *do* get the point. I'm so proud to be an American.

EDIT: I can understand if you, Moonbat, and others do not agree. Each person is brought up in a different environment, with their own evolving thoughts about their country and the world. To each their own as they say.

The GOD part was added in the '50's.

That's quite a list you've got there, Kathy. It shows that Osama likes to talk a good show, lend his name to things that will make him look good later on but would have happened anyway, and that you're quite the apologist.

But his actions speak loudly as well, as do his words. And he had something to say when asked why he didn't put his hand over his heart.

Why don't you Google that up, Kathy?

If you were paying attention (which you were not), you would have seen that, on several of those, he was in opposition to the Bush Administration.

I attended the local republican party debate party tonight. Great venue and food. Local Mexican Restaurant banquet hall with huge projection screen for the debate.

They played the National Anthem on the TV. We all stood and everyone in the room had their right hand over their heart. FOR A TV BROADCAST!

It's a natural thing to do for people who love their country.

Now, I am not saying that Mr. Obama does not have the right to not hold his right hand over his heart and I will absolutely and without question defend his "right" to not do so, but to deliberately not do so in a public setting, especially when running for the office of president is really very stupid.

On this, I have to agree with Mark. Word for word.

Daniel, you know that I agree with you, on many things.

You know that I disagree, vehemently, with Larry and David Burton, on many things. I also think that you're right about Larry, he's been stalking you through the various posts here ... sometimes baiting you, sometimes outright insulting you.

Mik, however, is a decent guy. He and I come from very different philosophical places, but I don't for a minute think he's homophobic, and I find it laughable to think that he's properly viewed as anything like a member of Stormfront.

Ease up on him.

That is wrong. If he is not homophobic, then he can stop making homophobic statements like his unprovoked attack in Larry's "vagina" thread. That was a vile, unsolicited thing to say. Read it and tell me that it was not homophobic. I am rarely really offended by things that are said about me that was a disgusting thing to say. I did not attack him. I was not even talking to him.

And no I do not take back what I said about Stormfront. It is hardly laughable.

You might have missed something he added to that thread (as it was an edit):

Edit addition: Now I will apologize if you took it personally. But given that I have clearly not wished to harass you lately, you might have stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, it was not meant in the manner that you took it.
