Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments
and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism.

We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences.

Actually there are a lot of Hillary supporters there. In fact, they are almost all Hillary supporters.

Moonbat, we are a new breed. A young country leading the way with the new concept of freedom, liberty, and democracy.

Can you imagine the shock the Europeans had when George Washington peacefully handed over the power of President to the next elected person?

I think you're on to something with the young country part, not sure about the rest though. :P

Doing nothing becomes automatically disrespectful if you're a presidential candidate? I don't understand that, either.

In a situation like this, yes, I believe it is disrespectful. Being a candidate, or indeed anyone with influence, they need to take more care and extra steps to get to where they want to be, because each and every move that they make will be scrutinised by the vultures. They know this.
Death is simply a shedding of the physical body like the butterfly shedding its cocoon. It is a transition to a higher state of consciousness where you continue to perceive, to understand, to laugh, and to be able to grow.

Agreed. If he deliberately does not place his hand over his heart, then he is not representing (as a candidate) the majority of Americans.

So, if he's deliberately not respecting the flag, what point was he making, and to whom?

I don't know that I would call it disrespectful automatically; but it is most certainly dumb ass stupid. If you want to have thousands of people looking at you, judging your every move, analysing your every movement and word....then you have to do what the folks expect you to do. It's his choice to be in the spotlight, and saying the right thing, doing the right thing, is part of the package deal. Whether he thinks it's essential to do the hand on the heart thing is moot; he has to do what people want to see. It's part of what makes politics so gosh darned exciting.

I'm on your case about SELLING one place to another.

On the other hand--it's interesting to see Liberal reaction someone to disrespecting of the flag.

And if he was deliberately showing disrespect for the flag, I would agree he should not be President.

If I i saw a leader of a political party really getting in to the national anthem, hand on heart, tears in eyes etc. i think i'd be less inclined to vote for them.

I agree with Moonbat but I can't speak for his reasoning. For me, I'd be less inclined to vote for them because getting worked up about the anthem/pledge betrays a fundamental irrationality in one's worldview.

With every passing year, I feel like serving this nation was foolish, and that no one appreciates one bit of it, and no one gives a f'ck. "It's no big deal." "It's nitpicking."

No, it f'cking ISN'T!

No, Obama's lack of respect betrays nothing more or less than a lack of respect for people living and dead that served this country.

Course, common and cold. If Obama want's to be the bearer of the African-American's disenchantment with America--I have no problem. I have a problem with him representing me a son af an immigrant that has no such disenchantment.

Well I believe the Pledge of Allegiance is a relatively new "patriotic" thing to this country (1950's communist scare?), however the National Anthem and the flag are both very important to this country. They represent so many things to be proud of, and so many noble deaths to honor. America is not perfect, but it certainly is a country full of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. IMO, if someone gets tears in their eyes listening to the National Anthem while watching the Stars and Stripes fly with a background of fireworks...I think they *do* get the point. I'm so proud to be an American.

EDIT: I can understand if you, Moonbat, and others do not agree. Each person is brought up in a different environment, with their own evolving thoughts about their country and the world. To each their own as they say.
