Hendrix sure beats Roseanne. Or Whitney Houston, come to that.

You haven't lived till you've heard Ms. Dion sing your national anthem. You'd like that.

And she, no doubt, will when Hillary's elected. She is her campaign theme song singer, after all.

Man, i have seen that dark side and you would be GOOD!

I prefer the light, the good side, even if it means being naive now and then.

And you are the religious one and I am the atheist agnostic. What does Jesus think about your dark side?

Go figure?

The greater one's capacity for light, so also is their capacity for darkness.

All things in the universe seek homeostasis, and in the MEST worlds, there is no escaping this duality.

er... We now return you to your regularly scheduled happy-go-lucky "Tom Sawyer" Frank_W.

The 89th Key
Jan 10 2008, 11:15 AM

There's been a lot of confusion about whether this is the Pledge of Allegiance or the National Anthem, and what's going on, and why. I found this earlier today:

It's not the Pledge of Allegiance. It's the National Anthem.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp

Protocol

When the song is performed in public, the US National Anthem Code, adopted in 1942, specifies the etiquette rules for playing and responding to the song. The audience members are expected to face the American flag if one is displayed, and stand in an attitude of respectful attention.[7] If the flag is not present, the audience faces the direction of the music and still stands in a respectful attention.[8]

People in uniform, including military personnel, fire service and law enforcement officers, are expected to salute or "present arms" during the national anthem from the first note and hold the salute until the last note is played. People not in military or other uniforms are expected to remove their hats and place their right hands over their hearts.[8]

So no, 89th, sometimes a picture is not worth 1000 words. It turns out that Obama is right, and the others are wrong, and that his story about being raised to stand at attention for the Nation Anthem checks out.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

Oh, edit to add: Did you read your own citation?

"People not in military or other uniforms are expected to remove their hats and place their right hands over their hearts."

Is he in the military, or in another uniform?

Ok, point taken. You are right, George. I should have read it more carefully.

§ 301. National anthem
How Current is This?
(a) Designation.— The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.
(b) Conduct During Playing.— During a rendition of the national anthem—
(1) when the flag is displayed—
(A) all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart;
(B) men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
© individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; and
(2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

Actually there are a lot of Hillary supporters there.  In fact, they are almost all Hillary supporters.

Really? Who, besides me, Jeffrey, and Bernard? (there may be others, but then most people there don't post about politics).

On the other hand, we've heard negative comments about Hillary from at least: you, kathy, pianojuggler, operatenor, teachum, cindysphynx, even the otherwise-apolitical Mary Anna. (not to mention the overtly conservative or libertarian folks there)

Hey Jack, you missed this.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Hey Jack, you missed this.

I guess I assume any dem who has not "declared" is for Hillary, and I know there are 3 Obama supporters including me and no edwards supporters I know of, so I assumed the rest of you were for Hillary.

I think that is close to the truth, but who knows?
