Yeees I think it should be. Subjunctive, or something like that

edit: See what happens when I leave the room to sleep and go out?? I should have asked a few more questions!

David, thanks for your thoughts, I agree with you - the best thing about each country is its individualism.
Death is simply a shedding of the physical body like the butterfly shedding its cocoon. It is a transition to a higher state of consciousness where you continue to perceive, to understand, to laugh, and to be able to grow.

Technically it is Daniel vs. Pretty Much Everybody.

I suggest Daniel leave this forum, he obviously cannot take a joke and/or let an insult bounce off him.

Shoot...I'm insulted every day, usually by a driver behind me sticking up the finger next to his ring finger but not the pinky finger. I usually assume he doesn't have control of his other fingers and is just waving at me. Sometimes he flashes his lights to get my attention to let me know that he's waving at me with one finger. That brings me joy. I don't know where I am right now.

I hope this post was worth it to you, 89th. As far as you and I are concerned, you can consider me gone.

Daniel, please don't call my friends ass wipes, assholes or bigots.

I'm very disappointed in the real you.

I will call them what they are. The fact that they are your friends is of no concern to me.

I'm guessing Klaus' English grammar is a whole lot better than yours.

No, it isn't.

It may have been when I was in school, where we learned grammar rules etc. But I have forgotten almost everything about grammar.

But that's not how you learn a language - it did not work for me at least. Knowing the grammar rules does not help at all in oral communication.

I really learned English by using it, i.e., reading lots of books in English, talking to people in English etc. If you do that, you develop a kind of instinct about what is right and what isn't. Of course, my instinct fails me more often than that of a native speaker (probably this post also contains numerous errors), but it works much better for me than the typical school approach to learning a language.

As for Daniels comment - I have no idea what he was talking about. If he'd point to a concrete sentence that I have misunderstood, then I'd be happy to apologize.

Klaus, if I didn't know better, I would have thought you were a native speaker of English. Honestly.

What Frank said. I am amazed at how natural your conversations here are. Your comments are full of idiom and "insider" thingies - that only a native speaker would usually use. You use the language as well, if not better, than many native speakers I know. Of course, English is my second language, so I know whereof I speak.

:lol2: It's okay... My Japanese in-laws can't speak a lick of English. Anyway, I've lived all over the place, and I can usually understand most poeple, and hopefully, they can understand me. I have no accent, except maybe the slightest southern accent from living in Tennesse for the past ten years... :)

I might be going back to Germany this summer. I will try my best, and butcher the language (the little that I remember!).

Maybe I should follow Klaus' example and read some stuff in German....with my many dictionaries at hand

I know that people who are much enamored of French culture are called Francophiles. What would you call someone well versed, if not enamored, in American culture such as Klaus? How about someone well versed in German culture?

89th, if you are talking about banning him, then you should consider the same for Larry. He is in the middle of every fight, is nastier than anyone here, and clearly started the last fight with Daniel just for the fun of it.

Personally, I don't think anyone should be banned. I am a great fan of ignoring people when I tire of them and Daniel would quickly quiet down if more people did that.

My secret to many "insider" thingies is this website: http://dict.leo.org

I use it at least 50 times per day. It knows all kinds of idioms, figures of speech etc.

What is your first language, George?

Remember I do not view "the terrorist threat" as anything but a "threat" and a pretty damn weak one at that.

Mark, tell that one to the families of the 2300+ people who died in the Twin Towers....

Are you seriously that unaware of the scope of terrorism around the world, Mark?

We have doubled the death toll of American lives since in an undeclared "war" in Iraq. So what about the 4,000+ families of our brave men and women who have died in Iraq Larry? Huh? What about them? What about the families of the yet to be killed brave men and women over the "Next 100 years" according to Insane McCain? Yes, 2,300 people died that day but did out national level of reason and intelligence have to die with them?

I am completely aware of the terrorist threat around the world. Our not so esteemed leaders have blown it completely out of proportion and have become the dictators they have always wanted to be and want future presidents to be.

I want this sh!t stopped now before it gains any more traction and the people submit to even more iron fisted tactics from the government.

Like H.R 1955 S.1959 for instance. I cannot friggin believe the House passed this crap!

Bunch of frightened little mice the american people have become to let this crap go on IMO.

I want to see Obama succeed in stomping out Hillary. And then see him defeated by McCain. I'm down with that. :thumb:

McCain cannot beat Hilary. The man looks sick. He is also a little more than unstable in the psyche department IMO.
