New Years Resolutions; ...list them here!

I don't know if we'll be able to find this thread in a year, but I'm going to list my resolutions to hold me accountable!

- Save up $25K by the end of the year (I know that's peanuts to TomK, but not bad for a 25 year old!)
- Go to church regularly and read through the whole bible (been slacking lately and never read the Good Book cover-to-cover)
- Stop saying offensive jokes/words (often joke around with friends and use bad words/slurs)
- Complete local triathlon and possible 2nd marathon, and get under 180 pounds (AND STAY THERE)
- Organize music and photos in one master collection on computer (I have saved in various formats and locations)
- Create binder of piano works I've learned, and a binder of piano works I WANT to learn in the future
- Go to dentist twice
- Re-do Cinemafox with dynamic language (allows users to log in and add comments, etc)
- Learn guitar (at least the basics)
- Begin writing my non-fiction book (about Gavrilo Princip - long story)

(among quite a few other things I want to get accomplished)

Hmmm... I didn't really make any resolutions. If I had to I'd say:

- gain 15 pounds
- work out 3x a week consistently
- play the piano more than I did in 2007
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

1. Quit smoking. (Or switch to a pipe)
2. Dive more and take advantage of whatever additional training I can get.
3. Make more music.
4. Get back into my lifting regimen.

Treat Larry exactly the way he treats me, Daniel, kathyk, Quirt, JonNYC, and a host of others.

Tit for tat.

Which is better, tit or tat?

Is this escalation, retaliation, vietnamization, normalization or mutually assured destruction?

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Start playing the damn piano again
Drink less but more expensive alcohol (dangerous, this one)
Enjoy life and leave work-stress where it belongs

A sincere attempt to have larry achieve self-realization and reform the nature of his angry, hate-filled, obscene ways.

Lost cause?

i sincerly would love to run the nyc marathon, but im not sure i can do it, but im bold enough to post it as a 2008 goal. the marathon is in nov 2008, (although u need to pass a lottery for entrance) and i really want to go for it.

things against me:
-im out of shape, havent ran in a long time.
-ive got too much weight, im at my heaviest at 83 kg (182 lbs) and i would like to run it at somewhere between 70-75 kg (155-165). that means not just exercise but also a diet to deal with.
-ive got a chronic posterior tibial tendonitis which is bothering me, after all day on my feet, and running will not help this. ive gone to a foot person to make me orthotics for my shoes to help relieve the stress on the posterial tibial tendon and i hope that will ease the tenderness. i dont want to start taking anti inflammatories if not necessary.

be that as it may, ive started 1/1/08 waking up half an hour earlier and going out in the pre sunrise darkness and run.

things going for me:
-i can be stubborn as mule when i give myself a mission, and at my age, my feeling is, its either now or never, and i want to run a marathon, before they have to wheel me in a wheel chair marathon.
-dont smoke
-im not a couch potato, i can run 15-20 min without getting too winded so im not starting from scratch.
-ive got about 10 months to get ready.

if i dont get the ny marathon on lottery, i will look at other available races in winter of 2008.

My new year's resolution is to help Jack with his alcohol addiction, and then to help him find peace within himself so he can let go of all this hate and anger that is consuming him. It is my goal this year to install Humor2.1 in Jack, and have it running in the background at all times.......

Bach, that's a great goal and I believe some folks like myself, katie, and most importantly kluurs can give you some advice if you need it. Starting now is great and just get into a basic run/walk routine until may. Then in may get a new pair of shoes and kick it up a notch, nothing too major. And then in the beginning of July, begin the "16 week" countdown where you follow a very strict workout routine and you wont believe how easy it will be to run 13 miles by the beginning of September, and with some conditioning after that the marathon will be more than doable in early November. Best of luck!

I Owe It All To John D'Oh
1. Eat healthier. I eat total crap.
2. Cut out the sodas.
3. Make it to the gym regularly and consistently. I go regularly, but not consistently enough.
4. Practice piano regularly and consistently.

If I do #'s 1, 2, and 3, the weight will take care of itself.
It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010.
