Fox News Says No To Ron Paul

He's not invited to the debate.

Paul: Fox News is 'scared of me'

PLAISTOW, N.H. -- Ron Paul said the decision to exclude him from a debate on Fox News Sunday the weekend before the New Hampshire Primary is proof that the network "is scared" of him.

"They are scared of me and don't want my message to get out, but it will," Paul said in an interview at a diner here. "They are propagandists for this war and I challenge them on the notion that they are conservative."

Paul's staff said they are beginning to plan a rally that will take place at the same time the 90-minute debate will air on television. It will be taped at Saint Anselm College in Goffstown.

"They will not win this skirmish," he promised.

The Fox debate occurs less than 24 hours after two back to back Republican and Democratic debates on the same campus sponsored by ABC News, WMUR-TV and the social networking website Facebook.

What is that all about? He's polling higher than other candidates, has made a big political splash (at least on this forum), and is a serious candidate, certainly as serious as Kucinich and others. "Fair and Balanced?" Not today.

It has nothing to do with Fox News having something against Ron Paul. Paul simply doesn't have enough support to rank in the group.

It's my understanding that Paul's numbers are higher than Duncan Hunter - who is invited.

I have to agree. The man has enough support that he should be heard. I don't want him as president, but I would love to see some of his issues fleshing out the GOP platform and shaping the dialogue.

Yes, I think it would be very good for the GOP to respond to him.

Never Mind

I guess even Ron Paul didn't know he was invited.

The Republican debate will take place January 10, 2008 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The South Carolina Republican Party sponsors the event. The debate will be led and televised by FOX NEWS with Brit Hume from FOX as the likely moderator. Debate questions will be selected by the network. As of the time this article was written, there have been no formal confirmations from the candidates to appear. However, according to a spokesman from the South Carolina Republican Party, hopefully the major contenders will take part. They are:

· Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York City
· Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas
· Duncan Hunter, U.S. Representative from California
· John McCain, U.S. Senator from Arizona
· Ron Paul, U.S. Representative from Texas
· Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts
· Tom Trancredo, U.S. Representative from Colorado
· Fred Thompson, former U.S. Senator from Tennessee

Well, George, technically, RP isn't wrong.

The debate is scheduled for Jan. 10, according to that link. The NH primary is Jan. 8, I believe.

So RP was not invited to the Fox News debate the weekend before the New Hampshire primary.

No one was. :P

OK, OK, OK.

So, Ron Paul doesn't need a new contact manager, he needs a new calendar.

Speaking of people who need new things:

That news report in your link is dated December 31 (today). Didn't Tancredo drop out a couple of weeks ago?

Maybe that radio station needs a new newspaper subscription.

I guess they're still allowed to invite him to debate ....

That story, though dated today (the 31st) has been up for at least a day. I saw it yesterday morning after I snooped around the "Paul not invited" thing. I forgot Didn't have a chance to post it yesterday.

Maybe this is the one RP was talking about:

Quote:

Fox, meanwhile, has invited five GOP candidates to a forum with Chris Wallace scheduled for its mobile studio in New Hampshire on Sunday. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee received invites, leaving Paul of Texas and Rep. Duncan Hunter of California on the sidelines.

The network said it had limited space in its studio -- a souped-up bus -- and that it invited candidates who had received double-digit support in recent polls.
