Finally
|
(guess which candidate said this) "We must use our diplomatic leverage and force the enemies of democracy to yield: President Bush should press Musharraf to step aside, and a broad-based coalition government, consisting of all the democratic parties, should be formed immediately. Until this happens, we should suspend military aid to the Pakistani government. Free and fair elections must also be held as soon as possible." Can anyone suggest how the US should "force" Musharref to step down? An armed invasion of a country that never attacked us? Perhaps a CIA promoted assassination? Isn't this just another example of American imperialism? (hint: he's the Governor of New Mexico, former Ambassador to the United Nations (Imagine if John Bolton had said that - I'd love to hear the Senate confirmation hearings.)) Oh, he did say "Diplomatic Leverage" in the same sentence as "force." Now I get it. |

Richardson has been eating his foot quite a bit lately. Even I, a supporter of the notion that the USA is the single greatest thing ever invented!!!!(tm), don't think such intrusion into Pakistani politics is a good idea. |

HOLY CARP!!!

Any overt action or pressure just confirms the majority of Pakistani's views towards the U.S. All activity has to be behind the scenes. Just hope Mushie doesn't become our next Shah. |
